Alex sat in the chair, his heart pounding in dread. Amy had promised to "go all out," and he was afraid of what she would do. She started by washing his hair, as usual narrating every single step.

"Oh, wait! I almost forgot—I need a picture!" Amy exclaimed, stepping aside to grab her phone.

"Please, no," Alex muttered under his breath, but she was already snapping away. The camera flash made him feel exposed, as though the humiliation wasn't already enough.

If only he hadn't come in last. If only the lady hadn't sabotaged him, leaving him at Amy's mercy. His thoughts spiraled as Amy worked on his hair, her cheery commentary blending into a dull hum in the background.

He caught his reflection in the mirror. His glossy pink lips gleamed under the salon lights, a stark reminder of his situation. He wanted to tear off the cape, wipe off the lipstick, and run—just leave this nightmare behind. But he couldn't. He was trapped, and it had been weeks—three, maybe more. He'd lost track of time.

"You really love those pink glossy lips, don't you?" Amy teased with a giggle, snapping him out of his daze.

Alex looked at her, unsure how to respond. She'd been chattering away the whole time, applying various products to his hair.

"And now for my favorite part!" she said with mock excitement. "Alex, I love your natural brown hair, but I think it's missing something. You know what it needs? Pink! A little change is always fun, right?"

"No, Amy, please..." Alex's voice faltered, barely able to protest.

"Oh, don't be shy, Alexis," she said with a sly grin. "Pink is perfect for you! It matches those lips you keep staring at."

"I really don't want pink hair," Alex managed to say, his voice trembling.

"Don't worry, Alexis, it's temporary! Just until you use the special color remover shampoo—which, by the way, I'll be giving to Ember in about a week or so."

"Ember..." Alex murmured, wishing she were here. Her reassuring voice was the only thing that made this bearable.

Amy reached for a pastel-pink bottle adorned with a neon pink crown. "This one's called A Crown for a Princess. Isn't it perfect?" she said, squeezing a generous amount of dye onto her gloves.

Alex winced as she massaged the dye through his hair, using a brush to ensure even coverage. The smell was overwhelming, and the sensation of the dye coating his scalp made his stomach churn.

Once the dye was applied, Amy placed a dryer around his head and left him to wait. Moments later, Jade walked in, a large bag slung over her shoulder.

"Hey, girl!" Jade greeted Amy warmly.

"Jade! That new lipstick is gorgeous. Alex loves it, too!" Amy said enthusiastically.

Jade glanced at Alex with a knowing smile. "Well, if Alex loves it, I'll see if the lady can send one for your room."

"No, really, that's not necessary," Alex interjected weakly.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of it," Jade replied with a grin. "I'm actually here for your nails, Alexis."

"Oh my gosh, you're so lucky!" Amy squealed. "Jade does the prettiest nails!"

"Thanks, Amy. I'll do yours next time. How about you pick a color for Alexis here?"

"Pink!" Amy said with a delighted clap of her hands.

Alex sighed. He should've known. Pink was inevitable.

While his hair dried, Jade worked silently, applying acrylic nails that were impossibly long and painted in a glossy, glittery taffy pink.

"Jade, can you make them sparkle as much as Alexis's lips?" Amy asked.
