"Morning." John greets, switching off the TV as I enter the kitchen.

"What are you doing here?" I question firmly; not so much demanding, but definitely enough to let him know I'm not gonna let up until he answers me.

"Coffee?" He offers me a cup, to which I deadpan.

"You don't even know me well enough to know what I put in my coffee, so no, I don't want your fucked up coffee. What I would like is for you to quit avoiding the question I've been asking you since you showed up last night." I cross my arms.

"I'm here to protect you." He says simply. "That's all I can say for the moment."

"What the hell does that mean?" I raise an exasperated brow at the dramatics.

"I'll tell you more when I'm convinced I can trust you."

I can't help it, I chuckle dericively at his words, shaking my head as I genuinely find amusement in his words.

"That's rich, coming from you." I smirk condescendingly with the tilt of my head. "Except, you're working this whole thing backwards, John. The one needing to earn trust around here to be let in to anything, is you. All you have done since coming back when all of this started is betray everyone and sneak around to try and hurt them. That is not the kind of person I will be trusting in any capacity with mine or anyone else's safety. You can go to Hell." I scoff.

Before he can respond, Jenna and Alaric come in.

"Oh, God, I'm late." Jenna says with a small chuckle, grabbing her jacket from off the back of the chair.

"That's what you get for hitting the snooze three times!" Alaric teases with a laugh.

At that exact moment, Jenna freezes upon spotting John casually standing in the kitchen, causing Alaric to bump in to her before he sees what's caused her reaction; both of their faces dropping.
