"I remember her

I remember her so well

But things they fade. Things turn to grey

As much as I try to save them

They turn to grey."

ALL SHE COULD FEEL WAS THE COLD, a paralyzing chill restricting her movements. It was dark, only a distant light down the hall letting her know she was in fact, alive, and mimicked the worst parts of her nightmares. The cell reeked of blood, the walls decomposing with mold interlaced between each cracking brick. The only sound she could register was the quiet dripping of water. That, and her own frantic breathing.

It was nothing like any Erudite cell she had ever seen. The room felt ancient, like it was purposefully crafted to make her feel out of place and time. The cold seeping into her bones told her she was in some kind of underground chamber. She had no idea how long she'd been unconscious, but the dried, sticky blood splattered across her temple suggested it could have been hours.

As Storm blinked into the dim, flickering light of the small brick room, her heart sank. It was that horrible, familiar sinking feeling-the kind that told her every last hope she had of surviving was gone.

Her legs were bound at the ankles by metallic cuffs, her wrists tied with thick, coarse rope behind her back. She struggled, trying to wiggle her way out of the knot, but it did not budge, only furthered the stinging burns against her skin. The collar was gone; that should have brought her some sort of relief, yet it only filled her with more dread.

They weren't taking any extreme measures to make sure she was unable to escape. That meant two things: either they weren't planning on keeping her alive very long, or the atrocities they were going to inflict on her would be so profound, even if she was unbound, her body would be too fragile to move.

"Well, this is a terrible place to die," Storm mumbled to herself, slowly rolling to a sitting position.

She let out a small, defeated laugh as her fate finally settled in. Even if she wasn't going to die today, her final moment wasn't far away. Yet she was not scared for herself, not in the slightest. Her only thought was with one person.
