The soft glow of the lamp painted the nursery in warm hues, illuminating the rise and fall of Ellie's chest. Addison watched her daughter sleep, a contented sigh escaping her lips. Ellie was a month old now, a tiny miracle who had completely rearranged their lives. A month of sleepless nights, endless laundry, and a love so profound it felt like a physical ache.

Addison was enjoying motherhood, the rhythm of feedings, the comforting weight of Ellie in her arms, the gummy smiles that melted away any lingering exhaustion. Maternity leave felt like a bubble, a precious pocket of time dedicated solely to her daughter. She spent her days learning Ellie's cues, exploring the beach with the stroller, and sitting outside with Sadie.

Tim, however, was navigating a different kind of challenge. As newly appointed Sergeant at Metro. He was continuously working long and unpredictable hours. He was grateful for Addison's dedication to Ellie, but he felt a pang of guilt whenever he missed a milestone, a new gurgle, a slightly longer nap. He was trying his best.

He came home late most nights, the city's grime clinging to his clothes, the weight of unsolved cases pressing down on him. One evening, Tim arrived home to find Addy standing by the window, staring out at the city lights. He could see the exhaustion etched on her face, the slight slump in her shoulders.

"Hey," he said softly, wrapping his arms around her from behind. "Everything okay?"

Addison leaned back against him, her head resting on his shoulder. "It's just lonely sometimes," she admitted, her voice barely a whisper. "I miss you. I miss us."

Tim tightened his grip, understanding dawning in his eyes. He'd been so focused on providing for them, on protecting the city, that he'd neglected his fiancé.

"I know, Addy," he said, his voice thick with remorse. "I haven't been the best partner lately. I'm sorry. It's been really busy at the station. I promise, I'll try harder." He explains to her. Addy nods her head she understood how busy he had been. But, she had missed him since the baby was born. They barely had anytime to themselves. Plus Addy was doing majority of the work with Ellie. It was an adjustment.

Addy enjoyed being on maternity leave she would have visitors from Lucy, Bailey, Nyla, Celina, and Angela. They all loved seeing Ellie and Addy. It was always a nice time for all of them. As they all took turns showing their adoration to Ellie. Ellie was starting to look like Addy. She had the same dark hair as Addy, same lips, and nose. But she had Tim's amazing blue eyes. She was literally perfect.
