What did Christian and Jason get for their wedding gifts.
"A new toaster oven from Aunt Claire." Jason told Christian as they looked through the pile of wedding gifts in the living room of the condo.
"Oh yeah. Grilled cheese for dinner." Jason gave his husband a look. "Okay. Okay." He picked a paper pad up and wrote with a pen. "One toaster oven from Jason's great Aunt Claire."
Looking pleased, Jason grabbed the next present to open it. "Let's see what my mom sent us." His fingers went through the white wrapping paper clean and cut.
"How do you do that?" Christian asked him. "No matter how hard I try, I could never tear gifts open like you do."
"Count it as one of my super powers." Jason joked as he took out two towels with Mr. printed on both of them. "These are nice and all, but not what I was expecting." Out of the corner of his eye, Jason spotted a piece of paper sticking out of one of them. Pulling it out, he examined it. "I'll be."
"What is it?" Christian quirked his brow curiously.
"It's a certificate for a weekend up North at our family's inn." Jason replied with a smile. "Sorry I ever doubted you, mom."
Christian bit his tongue trying not to ask why Jason's family would use certificates for a place that runs in the family. 'Maybe it's because of the economy.' he thought to himself as he wrote down what the gift was and sent by whom.
"Alright." Jason said as he placed his mother's gift down and reached for a bag with colorful ribbons glued to it. His smile turned upside down when he saw who it was from.
"What's wrong?" Christian felt concerned.
"It's from stupid Brock." Jason growled out. "Hand me a lighter."
"Before you do anything drastic, let me take a peek at it." Christian spoke. "Your uncle might've helped him pick the gift."
Jason huffed. "I highly doubt it. But if you insist." He gingerly handed Christian the mystery bag.
Christian took a deep breath before taking the crumbled paper out of the bag to find a picture frame turned upside down along with a mini bag and card on top.
"To Little ginger." Christian read the envelope aloud making Jason frown. He opened the card and continued reading. "Since I know my sour puss cousin won't accept any gifts from me, I got you two. One is for fun. The other one is more practical."
Christian took the little bag out and decided to check out the photo first. When he flipped it over, a blush formed on his face.
"Give me that " Jason snatched the frame from him, and scowled. "Where the hell did he get this? I thought I destroyed all the copies of this picture." He looked up at Christian. "Don't you say a word."
"But how did you end up like that?"
"Not a word." Jason threatened.
Christian sulked before eyeing the mini bag. "Might as well see what the other gift is."
"If it's a small version of this photo of me, I am going to put my cousin on a hit list." Jason vowed darkly.
Christian removed the crumbled paper and pulled out a certificate. "This is for a wine tasting session if we're interested."
Jason took the paper from his husband. "That's shocking." Jason admitted as he double checked that the certificate was authentic.
Christian smiled a bit as he added the gifts to the list. "I guess even Brock has his moments."
"Still." Jason spoke. "I am burning this photo."
"Maybe after we're done with the other gifts." Christian mumbled as he glanced at the pile of gifts that remained. "I'm surprised we haven't found anything from my family yet."
"My family is a lot larger than yours." Jason told him. "Their gifts are probably buried underneath all of these."
"Or they might have it locked away at the manor to surprise us later." Christian guessed.
"Wouldn't doubt it." Jason said as he reached for another present. "One way to find out."
After an hour and a half of opening gifts, they were on the final one. "A ninja blender from uncle Frank." Jason told Christian as he held the device and studied his crestfallen face.
"Now. Now." Jason is trying to soothe him. "Let's give your family a call and see what they say."
He took his cell phone out to dial his in-laws. "Hey. Christian and I are opening wedding gifts and noticed that there were no presents from you guys. Uh huh. Okay. We shall meet you guys' outside in half an hour." Jason hung up to tell Christian what his family said.
When it was time, Christian and Jason met his family in the parking lot of the condominium.
"Hey bros." Ashley wiggled her fingers at them.
"What are you up to?" Christian felt suspicious.
"Follow us to the garage, and we'll show you our gift." John spoke.
Christian narrowed his eyes as Jason grabbed his shoulders to help him walk behind his siblings. When they entered the garage and rounded the corner, Christian's eyes widened when he spotted an early 2000 Toyota Camry sitting in the parking space with their condo's number painted on the wall.
"Is that what I think it is?" Jason asked Christian's siblings.
"Yes it is." Sarah spoke.
"But why?" Christian asked them.
"We know you have mentioned not wanting a car before." Jessie replied. "But we figured if you two needed it for long trips or run late to work by chance."
"Just remember, you'll have to share it." Ashley jeered the newlyweds.
Christian drooped when he felt Jason's hand squeeze him gently with a reassuring smile. "Let's check it out." They walked over to the white vehicle with the others following closely.
"We all chipped in, spruced it up, and tuned it up for you guys'." Jacob announced as Roger presented each of them a car key.
Christian was shoved into the driver's seat while Jason hopped into the passenger side of the car.
"Take it for a test run before you make a decision about this." John urged Christian more than Jason.
"Fine." Christian murmured before buckling up, inserting the key into the ignition, and turned it. The car roared to life as Christian adjusted his seat and mirrors before taking off.
Christian drove out of the condominium and decided to cruise down Main Street.
"Smooth ride, isn't it?" Jason nudged his husband.
"It is." Christian agreed. "And I must admit that this is a nice ride. For being twenty some years old."
Jason chortled. "They figured you'd be more open to this than a fancy Mercedes."
Christian puffed his cheeks out. "Shut it. I'm trying to drive to the chicken palace drive thru."
Jason perked. "Does that mean you want to keep the car?"
"It'll take some time getting used to, but I think this gift will come in handy."
Jason grinned. "That's great." He coughed awkwardly. "But don't expect us to use it everyday. We'll use it twice a week and for when we go on trips."
Christian blew a raspberry at him. "If you say so."
Jason's grin widened as he thought about all the future rides he'll share with his mate.
