69: Officially Official

"Talk about us."

"What about us?"

"Are you playing with me Samidha? You know what I'm talking about."

He said and Samidha sighed. This talk was inevitable.

"I want to know exactly what this is, between us. Even if it's one day, let's stay clear from the start. I like you and I like you a lot. I want to kiss you but more than that, I want you to kiss me. So I need to know what exactly your intentions are with me. I don't wanna force you or something."
He explained and Samidha laughed at his use of words.

"Okay fine. I like you too."

"So would you like to be my girlfriend?"
He asked and she scoffed. Well this isn't how she expected her proposal to be. But anyways, she was lucky she was getting a chance with the same guy, twice!

"Very romantic Sahaj. Very very romantic."

Sahaj laughed loudly and stood up, making dramatic expressions and gestures with his hands.

"Fairest maiden, thou dost shine as brightly as the radiant sun in a cloudless firmahent! Wilt thou grant me the most ardent desire of mine heart, and permit me to be thy devoted suitor?"

(You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen! Will you let me be your boyfriend?)

Samidha looked at him surprised as he pushed her away, picked up a bonsai tree from his book shelf and sat on his one knee.

"Verily, my heart doth sing with joy at the mere prospect of being by thy side! Pray, tell me, wilt thou be mine own, and grant me the privilege of loving thee?"

(I'm really happy when I think about being with you! Will you be my girlfriend and let me love you?)

"What are you doing?"
She laughed but he didn't stop.

"By the stars that shine brightly in the night sky, I swear to love thee with all the passion and devotion of a thousand poets! Wilt thou be my love, my heart, my everything?"

(I promise to love you with all my heart and soul! Will you be my girlfriend and let me love you forever?)

She gulped and her smile fell.

"This is real right?"
She asked and Sahaj looked at the bonsai.

"Of course it is. Look, it can even speak."
He said standing up and putting it close to her ear.

"Can you hear it?"

He asked and she shook her head in no.
Inspecting it, he put it near his ear.

"Umhmm......yeah......right! It is speaking. You just can't hear it."

"And what is Mr. Bonsai saying?"

"Hey it's Mrs. Bonsai. Mr Bonsai is over there. But Mrs. Bonsai is saying that you should quickly say yes to my proposal."

Samidha hid her face in her palms, feeling overwhelmed. She wasn't dreaming, was she?  It couldn't be true.

Sahaj pulled her hands away from her face and pushed her chin up. For the first time he wasn't hating her tears. They were tears of happiness.   

"I still haven't heard you say anything."
He whispered gently and she nodded, wiping her tears and smiling.

She wound her arms around his neck and he picked her up by her waist.

"Yes. Yes! YES!"

"Why don't you let him kiss you?"
Shubham asked and Samidha coughed out the water she was drinking. He rubbed her back and she looked up at him with now red and teary eyes.
