"Be my duet partner, Small Bean," Axel said.
He is definitely joking. I won't fall in his trap.
"Nice joke, Axel," I said.
He blinked rapidly. "What the...? Hey, I am serious about what I said."
I jumped down the stage and joined my friends. While Faith was in doubt like me, Claire was convinced that her crush wasn't fooling around.
"Bhoomi, I am jealous, but you should accept the offer," Claire scolded.
"I don't think he is being honest," I said. "Once I say yes, he will make me fall on my face. I am not taking any risk."
Claire kept pushing me to go and talk to Axel, but I refused. Suddenly, I heard loud footsteps reaching us, and a tall figure loomed over me.
"Small Bean, will you stop embarrassing me?" Axel complained. "I am not joking about you being my duet partner."
I shook my head. "I don't want to be your partner."
Claire elbowed me. "If I was in your place, I would have died of happiness. Come on, it is Axel. He has chosen you himself; I don't think you should give up this opportunity."
Faith agreed with her. "I also think he is not lying. Bhoomi, you will learn a lot if you join a professional like him. He is the best in the academy. You got nothing to lose."
I hid behind them. "I don't want to do it."
Axel furrowed his eyebrows. "Why are you being stubborn? Aren't you here to learn? I promise I won't fight with you."
"No," I replied. "I don't trust you."
He looked at me blankly. "What did you say?"
"I don't trust you," I repeated.
Axel huffed, his blue eyes turning a shade darker. He glanced at his brother, and after announcing that his session was over, he left the room.
"You are an idiot, Bhoomi," Claire scolded me.
I wasn't affected. Since the workshops were over, we had a two day break. I utilised that time to complete my assignments, rest, talk to my friends and family. I was chatting with Tejas when there was a knock on my door.
I thought it were my friends, but when I saw Axel, I instantly closed my door. Unfortunately, he stuck his foot inside, and I told him to not disturb me.
"Is it someone important, Hamster?" Tejas asked me.
"Nope," I replied and signalled Axel to leave.
"Small Bean, at least think about it once," Axel said.
"I am not interested," I said. "Please find someone of your level. I know there's something cooking in your mind."
He sighed. "I promise I am not trying to mess with you."
"Hamster, are you busy? We can talk later," Tejas said.
"No, it is just Axel troubling me again. Don't worry, he is leaving," I said.
"What's the matter now?"
"He wants me to be his duet partner, but I don't trust him. There's no way he is serious about it."
"I am standing right here, Small Bean," Axel said. "Who are you complaining to by the way?"
I stood proudly. "My boyfriend."
Axel broke out laughing.
"You have a boyfriend?" he asked. "Nice try being funny. Who will date a small pea like you?"
