"Ganapati Bappa Morya!"
I smashed the coconut on the stone slab, a small crack appearing on it.
"Bhoomi, you can't even do one thing properly," Rehman taunted me.
"I will break it on your head then," I said and put more pressure this time.
The coconut broke into two parts, Akshay instantly rushing to collect the water in a glass. He loved coconut water, so he saved a major portion for himself before giving the rest to others.
"I didn't even get a drop!" I yelled.
"You won't as it is. You are the host," Akki said.
"You guys are really a pain."
After fighting over the coconut water, the guys were now arguing over who got the largest piece of fresh coconut and were stuffing sugar and jaggery in their mouths.
"When will they grow up?" I grumbled.
"When you will," Vibhan replied and handed me the small Ganapati Bappa's idol.
I shot him a fake glare, and we all stood in attention after all of my family members joined us.
A big smile spread across my face when Jyoti Aunty arrived with a pooja thaali (pooja plate). She applied tilak to Ganapati Bappa and Mom, then Prakash Uncle applied tilak to Dad, followed by Ritvik bhaiyya doing the same with his wife and daughter, and finally, it was my turn.
Tejas applied tilak to Ganapati Bappa and then me. After performing the aarti, me and my family exchanged glances, a look of adoration and pride in our eyes as we admired our new home on our house warming ceremony.
"Let's go inside now," Jiya told us.
She and Mahreen were in-charge of videography, while Shlok, Pratik, and Yasir were clicking our photos. Taking a deep breath, I put my first foot inside my new home that me and my family successfully built after years of hardwork and dedication.
After three years of continuous working and saving up, I was able to tell my parents that we could get a home for ourselves and that too in our own village.
In Mumbai, I would have gotten a small 1BHK in a location far from the main city area. So, we all did brainstorming, and in the same amount, we built a lovely 3BHK bunglow with a big courtyard and backyard in our village. My sister and Ritvik bhaiyya also pooled in the money as their classical dance academy was doing great.
Also, my friends helped me in getting a loan that I would be able to pay off without much stress. With Ganapati Bappa's blessings, me, my family and friends were doing great in our lives. Slowly and steadily, we were achieving our dreams.
"Bhoomi Maushi, place Ganu Baba in the temple," Srishti said, her head now reaching upto my shoulders.
I nodded, and after I placed Ganapati Bappa in the temple, we did a big aarti, and then it was time to satisfy our stomachs.
"Congratulations, Hamster. Your house is very pretty. Mom is so impressed that she wants to relocate here," Tejas said and smiled at his mother complimenting my mother and father about our house.
"What do you mean by 'your house'? Say 'our house'. Jyoti Aunty can stay here without anyone's permission, you know," I said.
He patted my cheek. "I am extremely sorry for my mistake. It is our house, so let's take a look?"
