Vibhan was a really tough case to crack. While Hriaan and Joy didn't see any issue with me participating in the solo section, my captain was not convinced.
"Bhoomi, I won't allow it. If you still wanna disobey me, you can leave the crew," Vibhan told me.
I pouted. "Vibhan, let me at least try the auditions. If I am not chosen, then there is no loss, right? I will still be in the crew."
I didn't get why he was refusing so seriously. I understood he was concerned about my health like Tejas and others, but why didn't he consider that me clearing auditions was the biggest challenge itself? - I wasn't even sure of passing even if Kile had encouraged me to try.
"Vibhan, please. I promise I won't risk anything. I will prioritise our crew and then focus on the solos," I told him.
"That's not the problem, Bhoomi," he said. "How will you manage both after qualifications? Do you know the level of the championships? Why are you trying to get laddoos in both of your hands?"
I rubbed my forehead. "But it is not confirmed if I will get selected or not. Why aren't you getting it? I will just give the auditions, and then you will regret not listening to me."
"Regret what? You believe that you will fail your solo auditions? You are doing it for fun?"
"Exactly!" I yelled as he finally got it. "That's what I am saying for so long. I want to try. That's it."
He pinched his nose bridge. "You are a headache, Bhoomi. You yourself don't know that you don't just ever try. By the way your eyes are twinkling, I know what's coming for us."
"You are saying as if I am going to smuggle your organs. Please, Vibhan, give me your approval. You can thrash me to your heart's content if you are proven right," I said.
He glanced at the other captains and told them to not complain later after I did what I wanted to do.
"Why are you taking this matter so seriously?" Hriaan asked Vibhan. "Shorty is saying she isn't even sure if she will even pass or not. Let her do what she wants."
"That's the whole concern, Hriaan," Vibhan said. "While Bhoomi and you guys think that she might not make it, I am damn sure that she will definitely qualify her solos. Mark my words."
Joy widened his eyes. "That's a prediction you are making there, bro."
Vibhan looked at me. "I know she will do it."
He has that much confidence in me? He believes me, so why is he stopping me?
"Vibhan, if you believe me, then you should be the one encouraging me," I complained to him.
He motioned to me to come closer, and I was ready to defend myself, but he grabbed my neck in a headlock so fast that I couldn't get any time to react - he used Akki's trick.
"I know you since you were in your diapers, Bhoomi, so don't try to be oversmart with me," Vibhan said. "You may do solo auditions, but if I see you lagging back in the crew practices, I will make you breakdance non-stop for your whole life, got it?"
I nodded, and he broke the headlock. I shifted closer to him.
"You don't need to mention about me being in diapers in front of others," I whispered to him.
"We already heard everything, Shorty," Hriaan said and laughed. "We all wore diapers, what's new in that?"
Vibhan laughed when I bit his arm. He ruffled my hair and told me to be serious about what he had said.
"TJ, please take your hamster before it bites off all of my skin," Vibhan said and pushed me off.
Tejas laughed when I stuck out my tongue at Vibhan.
