"Tejas. Tejas... Tejas~"

"What do you want to eat now?" he asked.

I looked up at him through my eyelashes. He tilted my head upwards with his left hand and enveloped my lips in his as his right palm massaged my belly.

"I love you," I said, wanting to just stare at him non-stop.

He kissed my nose. "I love you both."

Just as he expressed his love, the baby kicked me. Tejas stroked my back soothingly, my body getting lighter and lighter.

"I want to be closer," I said.

He glanced between us; I was already nestled in his lap, my head resting on his collar bone, but I still wanted to get closer if that was even possible.

"Please absorb me," I requested him.

He laughed and wrapped his arms more tightly to fulfill my wish. "Hamster, I am a human."

"But you are Devil, aren't you? Nothing is impossible for you," I said.

That made him laugh even more, and because of that, the baby landed two more kicks, making me groan.

"The baby loves to hear you laugh," I said and poked my tummy.

Tejas entwined our fingers and kissed them. I wasn't hungry as my husband had prepared everything I could ask for. It was the fifth month of my pregnancy, and I had become very clingy to him. I wanted him to be with me every second.

I didn't want to disturb him, but my body automatically begged for his presence, taking over my logical thinking. Also, I didn't realise how much difficult being pregnant could be. My body was going through so many changes that it both amazed and scared me sometimes, but being Tejas's wife, I had nothing to worry.

Even after being so busy, he never complained or got annoyed by my tantrums and mood swings. Every time I called him, he showered me with love and care, always looking at me with his gorgeous smile that made my heart skip beats.

While thinking about my husband while laying in his arms, I closed my eyes, his hands and lips caressing my skin. I felt blessed.

Like this, through my unending mood swings and Tejas's unwavering patience, nine months of my pregnancy were finally complete, and I was checking the doctor's reports in nervousness as the due date had already passed last week.

I glanced at my stomach in worry.

"Don't you want to come out?" I asked the baby. "I am your mother, so I won't complain, but don't you think we should give your father a break now? He has been caring for us without thinking about himself. He won't say it, but we both know how much rest he needs."

I rubbed the tummy, sighing as I waited for my father-in-law to arrive. He was going to take me to the hospital as Tejas and his mother were at their new site office's inauguration. They were going to join us directly at the clinic.

I was missing my husband a lot. After the due date was missed, the doctor had told me that it was normal. And since we already had an experienced and reputed doctor in the house, Tejas and my mother-in-law were able to leave outstation a week ago with peace of mind.

Knock! Knock!

"Yes, Papa, please come in. I am ready," I said loudly.

Tejas's father entered the room and asked me if I felt anything concerning. I shook my head in disappointment. Since last week, the baby's movements had reduced a lot, and I had felt it moving only once two nights ago. Since then, there was complete silence.
