"How is your right arm?" Tejas asked.
"It is fine," I replied.
Tejas smiled, and my confusion rose even more.
"It doesn't hurt now?" he questioned.
I nodded, looking at him in disbelief. He was so much angry just a few minutes before, but now he was as calm as a cucumber. I feared if it was the silence before the storm.
Tejas placed his left hand on my right shoulder and gave a light squeeze.
Fuck! He hasn't even applied much pressure, but my arm is feeling like it has been stabbed with thousand needles.
"You sure it is fine?" he taunted.
I forced a smile on my face. "Yes, it is all fine."
Tejas removed his hand and took out a big roll of crepe bandage from the first-aid kit.
"Roll up your sleeve," he said.
"Tejas, there's no need," I said. "It is just aching a little; there's nothing new."
He shot me such a look that I felt like a deer caught in the headlights.
"Do you want me to help you?" he asked, his voice getting low in tone.
I am not understanding anything that's happening right now. Tejas should be angry and asking me for an explanation about my participation in Ronit's dance battle, but he is only asking me about my health. Why? If he wasn't going to scold me, then why did he return two days earlier? He isn't affected by what I did?
"Hamster," Tejas said and pointed at my shoulder.
I was just getting confused, so I decided to go with the flow. I rolled up my t-shirt's sleeve, and Tejas unrolled the bandage and started wrapping it around my arm. He started from the shoulder, and due to this, he came closer to me than he already was.
I took that opportunity to observe him. His face was really close, so I roamed my eyes over him to see if I could find a solution to my doubts.
"Tell me if it hurts," he said in a calm voice.
"Okay," I replied, my gaze stuck on him.
Weirdly, unlike his usual habit of doing everything very quickly, he was wrapping the bandage amazingly slowly.
Why is he doing this? He himself looks so tired, but he is still worrying about me. He scolded the boys, but why is he not scolding me?
Why don't you ask him directly, Bhoomi?
"Tejas, can I ask you something?" I asked, keeping my voice stable.
"I am not going to scold you if that's what you are wondering about," he said without looking at me.
I stared at him in shock. As he wrapped the bandage further down my arm, my eyes zeroed on his right ear. The tip of his ear was bright red, and it was turning redder the more I looked at it.
Is he by any chance... blushing?!
The moment that thought crossed my mind, Tejas rotated my wrist at such an angle that a curse word flew out of my mouth.
"That hurts, doesn't it?" he taunted again. "It is all because you enjoyed Ronit's birthday party too much."
I ignored the pain as my focus was on his ears. Unfortunately, Tejas ruffled his hair, the movement ending up covering both of his ears.
"Your wrist's rotation is limited, Hamster. That's why you are struggling to improve your handwriting," he said.
He took out a fingerless black glove from his pocket and covered my right hand with it.
