A few hours had passed, and it was eventually night time,
The night before the festival.
Sanemi paced around in his room, fists clenched, jaw tight. His window was wide open, the cold wind rushing into his room, but he didn't care.
He was too busy cursing under his breath, his mind running in circles.
"Tch, damn it."
He sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair.
This shouldn't have been so hard.
He was Shinazugawa Sanemi.
He had faced demons stronger than anyone could imagine, stood on the edge of death more times than he could count.
And yet, here he was, struggling to say a few damn words.
He looked at himself in the mirror, eyes sharp, shoulders tense.
"Oi, Giyuu. Listen, I-"
No. Too aggressive. He sighed and tried again.
"Giyuu, I've been thinkin'..."
He winced. Too vague.
"Listen, I- uh... I want you with me forever?"
...
"Shit. That sounds too fucking desperate!"
He groaned, rubbing his face with both hands.
Why is this so damn hard?!
He glared at his reflection.
Maybe it was because this wasn't just some fight. It was not a battle, not an argument, not something he could fix with brute force.
This was him putting everything on the line.
His fingers brushed against the small box on his table, the one holding the ring.
A simple thing, nothing extravagant, but it was more than just metal.
It was a promise. A damn big one.
Sanemi swallowed.
Tomorrow. Under the fireworks...
Every Hashira was going to be there, celebrating, laughing.
And in the middle of all of it, he was going to ask Giyuu the biggest question of his life.
Sanemi gripped the edge of his table, heart pounding.
What if Giyuu says no?
The thought made something twist painfully in his chest. He shook his head, gritting his teeth.
No. No way.
Giyuu loves him. He knows that.
...Right?
A loud sigh escaped him as he threw himself onto his bed, arms over his face. He was so frustrated with himself.
Why was this making him so nervous?
Then, after a long pause, his voice came out softer, more hesitant.
"...Giyuu, will you marry me?"
Silence.
The only answer was the wind rustling outside.
Sanemi exhaled, staring at the ceiling.
He'll get it right. He had to.

Meanwhile, the wind howled outside Giyuu's estate. It was an eerie, restless sound.
It was constant... somewhat unsettling.
