Sanemi dragged Giyuu away, both of them speed-walking like their lives depended on it.
"Dammit!"
Sanemi muttered under his breath, his hand firmly wrapped around Giyuu's wrist.
Giyuu, still flustered beyond belief, stumbled slightly as they weaved through the streets, dodging festival-goers, lanterns glowing warmly around them.
They could still hear Mitsuri's distant voice.
"WHERE ARE THEY GOING?!?!"
"Let them be, Kanroji-San!"
Shinobu's amused laughter followed after.
Sanemi rolled his eyes and kept running.
They needed to get away.
Away from Mitsuri's teasing, from the bustling streets, from literally everyone who wouldn't leave them alone for one romantic moment.
And after what felt like forever, when they were finally sure that Mitsuri and her band of chaos weren't tailing them, they slowed down, breathless from both running and laughing.
That's when they realised where they were.
A quiet, open field, surrounded by tall, elegant trees with branches heavy with cherry blossoms.
A soft breeze drifted through, making the petals dance gently around them, catching the moonlight.
Giyuu, running out of breath, smiled softly as he looked around.
"...This place is beautiful."
Sanemi exhaled, catching his breath, before looking at Giyuu.
"Nah,"
He muttered, eyes softening.
"You're more beautiful."
Giyuu's eyes widened, his cheeks immediately turning pink. Sanemi smirked slightly, stepping closer.
The soft glow of the moon made Giyuu's eyes look even prettier, and the way the cherry blossoms drifted perfectly around him...
Sanemi swore he'd never seen anything more stunning in his life.
Giyuu was still catching his breath when he felt a soft petal land on his nose.
He blinked.
Sanemi chuckled, stepping closer and gently brushing the petal away. His fingers barely touched Giyuu's skin, but the soft touch made Giyuu's heart beat faster.
They were surrounded by silence, no interruptions, teasing voices or distractions.
It was just the distant hum of the festival in the background, the petals drifting lazily through the air, and the sound of their hearts beating too loudly in their chests.
Giyuu slowly sat under the tree, looking up at Sanemi patiently.
Sanemi's eyes softened further, watching Giyuu with a rare and genuine smile on his lips. He sat beside him, sighing softly.
Giyuu's breathing was slow and steady as he relaxed, resting his head on Sanemi's shoulder.
He held the other man's hand, a little tighter than usual.
"...Sanemi."
Sanemi intertwined their fingers together, resting his head on top of Giyuu's.
"Hm?"
"Tonight has been really nice, and it's all because of you..."
Giyuu admitted quietly, his voice barely above a whisper.
"And... I just wanted to say that,"
His grip on Sanemi's hand tightened, like he never wanted to let go. Sanemi's hand, his warmth... He wanted it all.
