The evening air was cool, carrying the scent of distant lanterns and the faint echo of festival preparations.
Inside his dimly lit estate, Giyuu stood in front of a mirror, adjusting the sleeves of his dark blue kimono.
His fingers fumbled slightly with the fabric, his reflection staring back at him with the same neutral expression he always had... Except, tonight, something was different.
Tonight was important.
Sanemi's words echoed in his mind.
"It's... a surprise for you, okay?"
Giyuu sighed, glancing away from the mirror. He didn’t know why, but his chest felt heavy.
The way Sanemi had said it, so casually yet with a slight uncertainty, left Giyuu restless.
It had occupied his mind completely, and no matter how much he tried to shake the thought, it clung to him like a stubborn shadow.
What if it’s something bad?
What if he’s realized I’m not worth his time?
What if he just... wants to break up?
His hands stilled over the fabric. He didn’t even realize he had been holding his breath.
"...No."
He muttered to himself, shaking his head. Sanemi would never do that.
Even so, the anxious knot in his stomach refused to loosen.
With a deep breath, he tied the sash around his waist, letting his eyes wander to the window.
The sky was darker, and the gentle rustling of the trees outside matched the restless feeling inside of him.
The wind was stronger than usual, making the curtains wave along.
Why am I so nervous?
He exhaled slowly, fixing his hair a little before stepping back to glance at his full reflection.
His kimono was neat, his hair tied perfectly, and yet... he still felt unprepared.
He gulped, rubbing his face anxiously.
"Whatever the surprise is... It's going to be okay. I need to believe in him."
He sighed heavily.

Meanwhile, in Sanemi's Estate, there was a whole battle with words.
The wind howled through the open window, ruffling the curtains and carrying the crisp scent of the evening air.
The dim lantern glow barely lit the room, flickering unsteadily, much like Sanemi’s nerves.
His deep green kimono lay untouched on his bed, the fabric smooth and unwrinkled.
He, on the other hand, looked the exact opposite.
Pacing back and forth in front of his mirror, Sanemi dragged a frustrated hand through his unruly hair, his other hand clenched into a fist at his side.
His reflection stared back at him, equally exasperated.
"Alright… okay. Just say it. It’s not that hard."
He inhaled deeply, rolling his shoulders back.
"Giyuu."
His voice was firm. Good start.
"I-"
He hesitated.
Shit. No, no, he had to keep going.
He took another deep breath in.
"I… I’ve been thinking a lot, and-"
