THE DAY that you have been scared of finally came. the news coo came earlier, scattering a naw batch of newspaper to the people of the world.
the crew who stayed on deck were the ones who had read the news first. kurose came running to your quarters, he was full on sweating. as you went out, the crew looked at you worriedly before theo handed you the newspaper headline.
here you are trembling, the edges of the newspaper crumpled from how tightly you were grasping the page.
the paper read: captain of whitebeard pirates division number 2: FIRE FIRST ACE is imprisoned in impel down.
your eyes wandered around each word, making sure that you read it correctly. ace isn't someone who will be caught, something must have happened before his arrest.
the crew grew more worried because of your silence. just as kurose was about to break the silence, a presence was felt climbing the ship.
silvers rayleigh appeared before them. as he walked closer, the crew gave way, finally seeing you in view.
you were on the floor, still gasping the newspaper tightly. the old man huffed, he was positive that the paper already had holes at this point. "i see you got the news already." no response from you, you were frozen still.
rayleigh went down to your level, taking the newspaper out of your hand, then taking hold of both your shoulders. you did not flinch. sadness clouded your features as you looked directly at rayleigh's eyes.
"snap out of it, [name]!" he yelled, "[name], are you listening to me? listen to my voice, it's rayleigh, i'm here." his voice full of worry. this also happened 22 years ago when roger died.
rayleigh was there as you grew up into who you are today, he saw all you episodes, though you try to hide it from your crew and even deny it yourself, having experienced trauma is not something you can just move on from. it is not something the body and mind can just grow out of.
your hands were cold, and your eyes wandered around the ship, lips slightly shaking. "[name]!" rayleigh yelled once more, your crew also called your name multiple times, trying to bring you out of your daze.
