— romance dawn for the new world
A FEW MORE HOURS, and your ship will be reaching your destination: ace's gravesite.
you now sat on the back deck of the ship, making flower arrangements for the two graves. it has been a very long while since you've visited; they could have been sulking all those time.
"sunflowers.. daffodils.. lilacs.. and a bunch more." it was already five buckets worth of flowers straight from moonlight island. shiraume has been taking care of them since yesterday; that's why they haven't wilted yet.
"here.." sabo sat beside you, handing you a pair of gardening shears.
"oh? they gave it to you?" sabo nodded. before arranging the flowers, you had asked for the shears, didn't expect sabo to be the one to bring them to you, but you appreciated it.
the sound of something placed on the wooden deck made you pause in working and turn to the blonde male. he placed two sakazuki cups and a bottle of sake.
"what's all this about?" you asked, putting down the basket of flowers.
"sakazuki cups! this is what we used as a sign of our bond when we were young." he was talking about his brothers, "and i wanted to do it with you as well. though i wish you, luffy, and i could exchange cups formally next time." he continued as he poured the sake onto the cups.
you waited until he finished pouring to grab your cups. raising your cups, he both of you gave each other a smile.
"for new bonds!" sabo yelled as you raised your cups once more, some of the sake splashing onto your hands.
for my family!
you blinked your eyes a few times, you heard someone else's voice along with the blurry silhouette of another man sitting between you and sabo.
ace?
you laughed to yourself as you take a full sip of the sake. ace's soul was here to witness this exchange and you were more than happy. thank you, ace.
"say, [name].. can you tell me more about ace?" this started two years ago, sabo asking questions about ace.
and you told him everything you can remember, from when he was born until he became a pirate under whitebeards name. you are aware of sabo's guilt, being unable to remember his brother, being unable to save him, and remembering he even has one at the worst possible time.
you can't blame him, nor can you erase the mild hatred he has for himself. the pain those three sworn brothers went, luffy doesn't even know that one of his brothers is alive.
