"IN TWO YEARS' TIME!! WE WILL MEET AGAIN AT SABAODY ARCHIPELAGO!!"

more than a decade ago, shanks told you he bet his arm for the new age. a sea king took it, a sacrifice, as he called it, to protect a boy who now had his straw hat.

this clouded your thoughts as you walked down the spiraling stairs going down to the basement. at the end of the stairs, vintage double doors greeted you. fishing out the key from your pocket, you opened the room.

ᜉᜑᜒᜋᜃᜐ᜔ (pahimakas) floor. the room of the farewell, the room of your last will. shelves of books lined up on the side. a large round table in the middle that still had a bunch of paperwork scattered on it. on the right side of the room was a large stone carving of nika, the sun god, the warrior of liberation with his name written in a different language, ᜈᜒᜃ (nika). the wall across the doors had flags attached on it; your flag in the middle, the flag of the revolutionary, and another with the symbol of a heron.

you turned to the left side of the room, and there it was, the thing from your dreams. trapped in a glass frame was the guillotine that resembled the ikakalaka sword with the moon-eating serpent coiling around it,

the word ᜊᜒᜍᜒᜆᜐ᜔ (veritas) was carved on the top of the frame, while on the bottom, wrote "the sword of justice will fall upon the guilty".

for the last years, it has never shown color, only a plain silver, and now it glows light blue. finally seeing it with your eyes, it felt like the sword of damocles.  a symbol of a looming threat of disaster. it wasn't looming over your head, but you could still feel fear and anxiety from within you.

you took a deep breath, before taking a step towards the frame.

"you're finally doing it?" kurose voice echoed through the room. you stopped in your tracks, still looking at the guillotine.

"i think, it's time for me to make a bet as well," you answered. trying your best to play it cool.

"it's not a crime to show your emotions. you represent humanity after all. you're scared." you could hear his footsteps as he walked to the round table in the room, taking a seat. "being scared of dying is one thing, but being alone until death is different."

"i have been guilty since the day i was born, it's only timely that justice will finally come to the world. i will play this role." you smiled at him. he knows you're afraid. "i will find the truth and i will share it with the world."

"if shanks gave his bet, then so am i. this will be my bet."

"this and that are two different things, [name]."
