ONE YEAR HAS PASSED SINCE THE WAR OF THE BEST. a year has passed since it was known to the world that the strongest man in the world and the biological son of the pirate king both died.

another headline came to shake the world of piracy. everyone was on the edge of their seats as they read through each paragraph presented to them in the newspaper.

"what is this?!" people from around the world yelled. they were all in utter confusion. how could this happen?

at ruskaina, an island in the calm belt, northwest of amazon lily. where luffy hones his skills under rayleigh's guardianship.

not far from where luffy was mastering his armament haki, rayleigh sat on a stone reading a particular newspaper. noticing the uncomfortable silence around the old man, luffy gave a last punch to the beast.

"something wrong?" luffy asked, walking closer to where rayleigh sat. his eyes widened when he saw what rayleigh was holding. it was a vivre card.

a vivre card that was slowly burning.

finally noticing luffy's panic, rayleigh pocketed the paper. "breath, boy."

memories of ace's vivre card burning before him came back, he closed his eyes shut and matched his breathing to rayleigh, who was now beside him.

it took half an hour before he finally came to. luffy glanced at rayleigh who was staring at the vast sea before them, longingly looking from afar.n

it took all of luffy's courage to finally speak up about it, "who.. who's vivre card is it?"

...

zoro ran around the castle, trying to find where mihawk is. his bad sense of direction was no help at all, he has been running in circles. perona, noticing the boy's panic, finally came to help.

"where is mihawk?!" he yelled, much to perona's dismay, she still helped the green-haired swordsman.

in the living room, mihawk was sitting on his red velvet chair. glass shards were scattered on the floor along with the red wine he was drinking earlier, had slipped from his hold.

he turned to zoro, who had just arrived with perona floating before him, out of breathe from all the running. he was holding a burned piece of paper.

"how long?!"

...

the headquarters of the revolutionary army hasn't been in this much chaos in a very long while. paper scattered everywhere, cries of despair, and people sprawling on the floor.
