- the aftermath of war

ON THE NEXT FULL MOON, [name] will be awake. that was what kurose told shanks. how long was it until the next cycle? you may ask. exactly a month from now. shanks, kurose, and the rest of the midnight pirates have to endure having to wait for a whole month to be able to take a breath of relief.

kurose had just left the room, wanting to have a quick discussion with his crew, leaving shanks by himself. by the foot of the bed, shanks stood, staring at your figure.

you were sleeping, not a care in the world. no fear, no humiliation, no image to be protected, just carefree without thinking about what your next step should be. the world could end, and here you are, sleeping within the depths of your mind.

that is what shanks wanted, for the three of you.

shanks wanted you, him, and buggy to just live a laidback life of piracy, just sailing the seas, not ever thinking of anything but going through every adventure.

as much as he wanted to see your tranquil expression, he doesn't want you lying on your bed motionless. bandaged all over, iv fluids inserted into your arm. izar already assured him that all your wounds would disappear, not even one cut would leave a scar. as that was part of the deal.

the red head finally took the courage to take a closer look, he walked towards the side of the bed. his right hand, his only hand, reached out to your face, then to your hand

im sorry, [name].. why must you carry this burden.

shanks kneeled. holding your hand to his lips.

that night, shanks decided to stay until the day you woke up.

shanks sat on a barstool, drinking his third bottle of alcohol. he and his crewmates decided to have a drink in the bar in the town. the people have become accustomed to the red hair pirates, as it has been a month already.

"shanks-san! drinking again, huh?" commented a civilian who had just entered the bar.

the captain laughed and replied with a yeah. just as he was about to take a swig of his drink, the doors of the bar came flying open.

"akagami! the vice captain is calling for you!" izar came running through the door, sweat dripping from his forehead. he had just ran from the plateau just to get the bar.

the red head immediately placed his glass down and came sprinting towards the middle of the island, his crew not bothering to follow their chief. this was their captain's business after all.

the door of your room was already fully open when shanks arrived. he didn't have the time to catch his breath when he saw the bed empty, and kurose was there, staring outside the windows just beside the bed.
