"I'm pregnant."

Soobin's heart stopped in the middle of the highway when his car read that text aloud. His exit flew by in a blur.

Everything did. Life was sucked out of him. Dreams of his future became as dead as the fields all around.

He should've thought of her. Afterall, she was the one who was going to bear his child. She was the one who was now forever going to be in his life.

But instead, he only thought of him.

His mind numbed while he thoughtlessly pressed a single button on the steering wheel. The speakers rang. More exits flew by while he drove towards an unknown destination. Hearing his voice on the other end brought his conscienceness back to life.

"Hello? Soobin?"

Soobin choked back tears when he couldn't bring himself to answer. The summer before held the most precious time of his existence. Meeting him was meeting the person who he could give his soul to. Meeting her was a facade to please society. Giving her his body felt like eternal damnation to a wonderful secret he hated to hide. She wasn't him yet two words seemed to erase his existence forever.

"Soobin? You okay?"

Traffic whipped by as Soobin continued to drive on autopilot. His heart broke when his name was called a third time. Finally admitting she was pregnant was the second hardest thing he had to go through. The first was the complete devastation of not getting a response back. Through heavy tears, he begged "Kai?"

Kai didn't respond. He didn't know how to. He hated being the side piece after their summer was over.

To Soobin, it didn't matter that their relationship wasn't public because they were at least together.

To Kai, it mattered. He wanted the world to know it but Soobin never did. Like a hopeful fool, he hoped that one day his love would live his truth. Seeing it all fall apart made him hate himself for not realizing the reality sooner.

"Kai? Please-please talk to me. I don't know what to do!"

"We can't do this anymore."

Five words broke his heart more than those two words ever could. The car's radio following afterwards caused Soobin to go into a complete trance. Before he knew it, he ended up at the one place he felt at home.

Kai knew who was at the door without anyone needing to say it. Fury glared in his tear soaked eyes as he marched across his living room. Soobin was his world and he was done with him. He was ready to tell him off. He viciously swung the door open to the cold winter air only to find himself frozen at his doorstep when locked in a kiss.

Soobin cried as he grazed Kai's cheek with his thumb. He felt his home burning in a firey rage yet he only felt warmth within it. Petal lips began to kiss him back. Their bodies communicated in silence as their clothes slipped to the floor.

Kai was pushed against the nearest wall.

Soobin never took his lips off of him while they made their way beneath Kai's hips. Every lick he placed, every touch he gave and every sound he moaned, was silent reassurance that the younger was forever his.

Their passion ended after Kai rolled over and stared at the ceiling. Tears silently fell again. He failed to hold them back when he looked at the older and saw he felt the same way. Soobin was like a beautifully haunting photograph. A living piece of summer left remaining in the frozen rain.

Moonlight lit up Kai skin in a soft white glow. Soobin never wanted to leave. Reality sinking in only made the moment hurt more. Before the younger could tell him to go, he rolled on top and placed himself between his legs. He then leaned down, kissed his forehead and painfully waited for the next move.

Kai gave in. Their second round was as beautiful as their first. After that, they did it again. Sweat beaded between their bodies as they held each other in the sunrise.

Soobin's eyelids were barely open when an orange glow casted over the younger's cheek. He quickly used his body to block it so Kai didn't wake. Every time the sunlight rose, he told himself to never leave. This time was different. This time, Soobin was trying to convince himself to go so he could confront what he did.

A phone call woke Kai up. He pretended to keep sleeping while Soobin took it. Though the older did his best to keep his conversation quiet, Kai could still hear bits and pieces. He hated her voice. She cried into his lover's ear and Soobin entertained it. Not only entertained it but told her everything she wanted to hear. The final straw was hearing him say the word "married".

"Get out."

Soobin turned around in shock to see the younger wide awake.

"Get OUT!" Kai threw a pillow at him and screamed it again. This pain Soobin couldn't kiss away. Marrying her was the ultimate insult. When the older didn't react, he proclaimed "YOU'RE A FUCKING COWARD! YOU LOVE ME AND YOU KNOW IT! YOU'RE A COWARD!"

"Kai-"

"-GO! GO MARRY HER! BECAUSE WHATEVER THIS IS... is over."

It was over before it started. Soobin saw what his father did to people like him. Without another word, he picked up his clothes and left towards his car.

One week later, Kai saw the engagement announcement in the paper. The wedding was claimed to be the biggest event all year in the small little town they lived in. Reading where it was taking place caused him to pack his bags and leave forever.

The wedding invitations were sent. Soobin didn't have a choice. His fiancee recorded the entire conversation and used it to blackmail him into a future for their baby. He agreed to marry her at one request. To have their ceremony where he met Kai. In his vows, he planned to tell her everything he wished he could tell him. That no matter what happened, he would always love him, that he was endlessly drawn to him, and that he was an angel who metaphorically saved him.

Never in a million years did he think he would arrive to an empty house. Not one trace of Kai was left behind. An older woman cheerfully jeered "you're a little early sweetie! The open house isn't until this weekend! I still gotta set up you know!"

The invitation in Soobin's hand dropped to the floor as the "for sale" sign rose in the yard. He quickly picked it back up and apologized for his presence. It really was over. With one last sliver of hope, he stuck the card in the mailbox and left towards his new home.
