Drip. Drip. Drip.
In Beomgyu's nightmares, blood wouldn't stop dripping from the train depot's wooden ceiling. Yeonjun slaughtered her.
He remembered her body hanging off of the banisters after being sliced open by her neck. Her once blue eyes turned pale and ghostly as life quickly dripped away. She was the only reason he was still alive. She, Bella "Nobody", bought him enough time for Hyuka to arrive and save him from the one who bled silver.
In this dream, her head creepily turned until they were face to face. Mechanically, as if a machine was speaking for her, she asked "does he know yet? Does Hyuka know you bleed silver too?"
Red continued to flood the wooden floors. Beomgyu saw Yeonjun appear in the corner with only a sinister smile to boast. He shakily replied "no... he doesn't."
Red turned into thick silver. Blood no longer dripped. It begun to rain. The girl disappeared from the ceiling with Yeonjun taking her place. "I know your secret. Join me. You're one of us."
"No!"
"Why not? You're one of us!"
"NO!"
Yeonjun's eyes went black as he chanted "ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! HYUKA IS GOING TO LEAVE YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE ONE OF US!"
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD! GET OUT! GET OUT! GET OUT!"
"BEOMGYU!"
"GET OUT!" Beomgyu woke up crying when he heard his boyfriend recall his name.
In the softest voice he had, Hyuka muttered "it's okay. Just another bad dream again."
Those seemed to happen every night since he was saved. The only good thing to come out of it was Soobin and Taehyun's safety. Once Yeonjun learned of his true blood status, the others didn't matter anymore. Beomgyu curled up into a ball and mumbled "stay with me a little longer..."
"I would love to but I have to find him. He's probably going to finish healing soon if he hasn't already."
"Five more minutes?"
Hyuka caved. His body wrapped around the person he could never say "no" to then found himself quickly falling asleep again.
After an hour, Beomgyu woke up due to another horrible nightmare. With the way Hyuka was looking at him, he could've sworn he was still in one. It was a cold mixture of confused and angry yet he didn't know why. "Is everything okay?" he concerningly asked.
"Are you hiding something from me?"
The suspicious tone further threw him off. "No. Why?"
"In your sleep you kept begging Yeonjun not to tell me something."
"Oh... I don't remember. It was just a bad dream."
"You've been having a lot of those lately." Hyuka badly wanted to assume the best in his boyfriend but life taught him a lot. Everyone had something to hide.
"I um..." Beomgyu began to panic through plausible rambles. "I still can't get what happened out of my head. She went so quickly! I was scared! And Yeonjun! He came out of nowhere! I mean, you can understand right? Knowing someone for years and realizing they had been lying to-"
"-to who? Someone you trust right? That would hurt wouldn't it?"
"I'm not lying to you."
"If you say so." Hyuka could see he was never going to get the truth. All he was told of that night, before he saved Beomgyu from death, was that Yeonjun broke in after seeing Bella through a window. The two got into a fight. She tried as hard as she could to fend him off but in the end, she ended up with her throat slashed and with silver stripping her soul. While he didn't doubt that it was traumatic, it also wasn't the first time Beomgyu said something suspicious in a dream. He had to get the truth and he feared Yeonjun would be the only one to tell him.
"Where are you going?"
"If you won't tell me then he will."
"He's trying to kill you! Hello?! Babe! We're hiding again for a reason! Remember?!"
Hyuka walked out towards the sidewalk and stopped halfway down the steps, hoping at some point that his boyfriend would stop and tell him the truth. But Beomgyu said nothing and in a way, that was all he needed to hear. "I'll be back to check on you soon."
That phrase. Beomgyu hated hearing it again and again every time they were in a crisis. Being left alone wasn't an option anymore. He grabbed his boyfriend's hand, spun him around, then confessed "I'm... I'm a silver spirit."
Hyuka then did something so unexpected that it shocked Beomgyu to his core. The taller turned his index finger into a stinger and demanded "prove it."
The stinger was sharp and hooked like a scorpion's tail. Hyuka said nothing which caused Beomgyu to over think everything. "Do you actually want me to? Is this a test? Because I'll do it! Unless you're going to kill me after! You wouldn't... right? Right?"
"Prove it."
Beomgyu gulped. His finger quivered while hovering beneath his potential doom. A long time ago, he decided he would never hurt Hyuka no matter the circumstances. Hiring him was originally a trap. His parents didn't think shape shifters still existed and he wanted to prove they did. He just didn't expect to fall in love with one nor did he ever imagine his best friend sharing their same gene too. With one sad "I'm sorry", he pricked his finger and watched it bleed.
Silver dripped to the ground. Hyuka shaded into a sickly pale after watching the small puddle accumulate on the grass. Green started to die. Shriveling up and collapsing like his soul would if that poison entered his veins. He questioned if their relationship was real. There wasn't a doubt in his mind that Beomgyu was playing some type of long game. He then wondered if Yeonjun was participating too. Fearing for his life, Hyuka transformed into a falcon and flew.
Beomgyu called out "WAIT! HYUKA!" to an empty sky, hoping his boyfriend would change his mind. Different birds passed. Each felt like a tease to get his hopes up only for them to be kicked back down when they flew out of view. After another minute of pathetic waiting, he decided to do something stupid. Something that would guarantee he would find him again but might backfire entirely when he did. He decided to team up with Yeonjun.
