"Taehyun."

"One second!"

"Taehyunnie!"

"What?!"

Hyuka giggled when the older turned around. Even though his boyfriend had lost some of his "cute" features after turning 17 (like the baby fat in his face), he still remained precious. "It's okay if it doesn't work. Really."

"It's gonna work! I just gotta tweak a few things." Taehyun had been trying to develop a new type of hazmat suit ever since Hyuka turned 16. His current options were to either talk to him through the glass or, when he had more time, put on the heavy one that made him feel like a walking tarp. The closer he could get to actually touching his boyfriend, the better. Most of all, he longed to see what a kiss felt like.

Hyuka wanted to feel human warmth since the day he was put into the box. His desire only escalated ever since they fell in love. But he was also realistic. Dr. Kang was the best doctor in immunology and even he couldn't figure out a cure after nearly 17 years of treatment. His genetic makeup was so unique, and the donor pool was so small, that they could never find a match for the needed surgery. The best either ever got was the rumor of a sibling from Hyuka's biological family. "Didn't your dad say you had to be home early tonight?"

"Seriously? That's what you want to talk about? Your birthday is tomorrow! If this works, and it better fucking work, it'll be the best gift ever!"

"You're already the best gift ever."

Taehyun grinned as he kept disinfecting the latex suit he had been developing. It was a much thinner version of the standard one all hospitals have. The goal was to not only improve mobility but also to make him look more human inside of the box. "It's gonna work."

"Okay but I don't want you to be upset if it doesn't."

"Baby."

"Fine. Do you have more pictures of the sky?"

"Yeah, I'll send them over." When they first started dating, it never occurred to Taehyun all of the little things he took for granted until Hyuka showed him a picture of a sunrise and asked if that's what the sky really looked like. Ever since, he made sure to take lots of photos of nature and other outside things.

The photos Hyuka received depicted a rainbow over a city. "Wow... it's so pretty!"

"I figured you'd like those. Ran out to my roof as soon as it stopped raining." Taehyun excitedly held up the clear suit and beamed "well? What do you think?!"

"It's great but have you tested it yet?"

"A little at home. I just needed to clean it again because I accidently forgot to shut the contamination case."

"Ah." While Hyuka secretly took a photo of his nerdy boyfriend, he asked "did your dad tell you someone was spotted by security last night?"

"What? No!" Taehyun rushed to put his suit on so he could hear the new gossip. Every part of exposed skin had to be cleaned first like he was prepping for surgery. "Don't tell me yet!"

The almost 17 year old ignored that request and started rambling. "Yeah some girl again showed up at the hospital and asked about me."

"Some girl? Is it the same one from a couple years ago?

"No. They said it was a different one. Your dad said-"

"-baby! Wait! I'm almost done!" Taehyun popped his new suit on then ran into the box. A scanner stopped him in the entryway to ensure he was properly sanitized. Once the light turned green, he ran onto the bed to hear the rest of the story. "Okay! Go!"
