Chapter 68 - Destiny

Alpha Knox grips his binoculars as he watches a sleek-looking Bentley Bentayga SUV with dark-tinted windows pull up to the gates of the compound. It's around 9am in the morning, and he wonders who would be visiting the CBC in such a luxurious vehicle first thing this morning.   As the gates open for the visitor, his jaw twitches, he has a feeling who might be seated inside such an expensive vehicle.

"Got any visuals on who the visitor is?" asks Caden.  Knox, Caden and Christie, are lying hidden in some nearby scrub, they have gone into full espionage mode.  All night, they have been surveilling the CBC headquarters, taking shifts between the three of them. While one slept, the other two would stay on watch.

"The windows are blacked out, so I can't make out who it is. Call Josh, see if he can hack the security feed at the compound entrance, he might be able to tell us who it is".

Derek, the powerful head of the CBC, greets Alpha Jacob Roberts with a handshake, as the visiting Alpha steps out of his vehicle. Alpha Roberts has arrived at the CBC secret headquarters and compound. He is here to complete the trade, Xavier for Caspian. Derek is grinning like a Cheshire cat.

"Jacob, you clever son of a bitch! I can't believe you managed to pull this off. After all these years, delivering us a blue blood Alpha pup. Do you know how rich we will be from this? We're going to rule the world together!" Derek exclaims as he leads the Alpha into the compound and into the visitor's lounge. Heading to the drinks cart, he pours two whiskies "I know it's early, but let's have a celebration drink".

Jacob nods at Derek, and takes the offered drink, but he doesn't really want a drink, what he wants is his son "Where is Caspian? I thought he would be here to greet me?"

"Relax...you'll see Caspian soon enough. You've waited more than twenty years, what's another ten minutes going to matter?" Derek says with a smirk, as he swishes the dark liquid in his glass and looks at Jacob shrewdly "I must admit we will be sorry to see Caspian leave. As you know, he has an amazing scientific mind, I've always treated him like my own son. Just last night he was the only one able to wrangle Xavier, that little blue blood is deadly. Caspian had the boy under control in no time, even has the pup sleeping soundly in his bed as we speak" Derek takes a sip of his drink and says casually "I don't suppose you want to make another deal? We could really use Caspian to mentor the pup. A fellow wolf would make Xavier's transition much smoother. I'll make it worth your while to keep Caspian here with me?"

Ah yes, there it is, Derek was looking to keep both Caspian and Xavier. There was no end to this man's greed. When Jacob was younger, he would have fallen for Derek's trap, but he's grown wiser since then. Jacob looks back at Derek, taking a sip of his own drink, there was no way he was falling for one of Derek's deals again. The visiting Alpha is agitated, he wants to get Caspian, and head back to Silver Moon as quickly as possible "you killed Trevor, Sophie's guard, that wasn't part of the plan. Trevor was meant to be Xavier's guardian, not Caspian. Not only that, Sophie has become suspicious; she has yet to return to Silver Moon. You should have at least waited until we completed the trade!".

"Hmmm perhaps I was a little hasty in getting rid of Trevor, but as you know we had to tie up any loose ends, we couldn't let the guard live. I didn't realise how feral the little Alpha pup would be, I just assumed he would be more like Caspian was at that age. Not to worry, we will soon have him trained, just as we did with Caspian". Jacob doesn't like Derek's words, he doesn't want to think about how they "trained" Caspian as a pup.

"Anyway...take it easy...don't worry so much. You'll be bringing Caspian back to your pack today. You'll be a hero! The only Alpha to rescue his Luna and his son. Of course Sophie will return to you. Isn't this what she's always wanted? You'll be untouchable now – we both will!" Derek says with a laugh, slapping Jacob on the back.
