Chapter 73 - The CBC is no more!

While all chaos has broken out in the CBC compound, Caspian stealthily makes his way to the generator room. Using his master key, he unlocks the door. He wastes no time setting all the generators to full capacity. Generators are only meant to work at 80% capacity, by pushing them to their limit he will cause an explosion. Once the generators explode, the entire compound will be ablaze.

"Caspian, what to do you think you're doing?"

Caspian swings around to see Derek standing at the door of the generator room. He must have seen Caspian heading this way and followed him. Why didn't I lock the damn door?

"It's over Derek. The CBC is finished. If you want to live, I suggest you leave now" replies Caspian. Caspian has mixed feelings for Derek, he knows Derek doesn't deserve to live, but at the same time Derek raised him from a pup. Good or bad, he is the only father he has ever known.

"Turn the generators back Caspian, or I'll have to shoot you" Derek raises a pistol, aiming it at Caspian "I don't want to kill you, I consider you my son. I raised you from a pup, taught you everything I know about Haematology. Took you in when your mother died in childbirth, you would be an orphan if it wasn't for me!"

Derek's words anger Caspian, he realises his whole life has been a lie.

"You lied to me, my mother is alive! You kept her from me, so you could use me as bargaining chip, you needed me to keep a steady supply of shifter blood! And now you want to do the same with Xavier, but I won't let another pup go through what I did. It ends now, I'm going to blow this hell hole sky high!"

Derek fires the pistol, but Caspian quickly dives to the ground and shifts into his wolf. He growls and lunges at Derek before he has time to fire off another round, his wolf goes straight for Dereks throat, tearing into the jugular vein. Derek splutters, while blood gushes out from his throat, the rapid blood loss has him going into haemorrhagic shock. All these years, the powerful head of the CBC has been syphoning shifter blood for his own greed, how fitting it's his own blood loss that will be the cause of his death.

Caspian shifts back and looks at Derek's glazed over dead eyes. He should feel pain, but he feels nothing. He quickly goes to the supply closet and sees a spare uniform hanging there and puts it on. Then he grabs a can of gasoline that has been stored and begins pouring it all over the generator room. He quickly exits the room and locks the door with his master key, ensuring no one can enter to turn off the generators.

After saying goodbye to Xavier, and handing him over to Christie, Atlas is running back towards the blood laboratory. He looks down at the red and black bandannas he wrapped around his wrist and sends up a prayer.

"Ava...my mate...can you hear me? You helped my beloved Rose once, by leading me to save her. She needs you now more than ever. Help get Xavier back to Rose. Don't worry about me, please send all your blessings their way. I will walk whatever path the goddess has planned for me, but I need to know my family is safe. Help them, as you once said to me, go to them as there is no time to waste!"

Atlas bursts into the laboratory to see Caden valiantly fighting off the CBC guards. Caden is still in stasis, half wolf half human, but he has several bullet wounds with blood pouring out. Atlas can smell silver; the CBC guards have shot Caden with Silver bullets! Atlas knows, that if they don't remove bullets soon, Caden will surely die. Atlas howls, and runs towards the soldiers, partially shifted he begins slashing their necks and ripping out their hearts. Standing back-to-back, the Alphas are fighting off the CBC soldiers as best they can, but as quickly as they kill them, more soldiers keep coming. Just as they are losing hope, there is a massive boom, and an explosion erupts, shaking the foundations of the building. A siren begins blaring, with an automated message, Derek's voice rings out from the grave. Emergency, emergency, all personnel evacuate the building immediately. This is not a drill, I repeat this is not a drill! All personnel must evacuate immediately! The recording plays on loop. The remaining CBC soldiers pause, looking stunned, but begin rushing out of the lab, heading towards the emergency exits.
