Chapter 80 - Magic hands

Lily wakes to sore breasts, they are full colostrum and milk for her newborn baby. She looks over to the crib, that they have put in her hospital room, so AJ can be close to her. It is empty. Where is AJ?

She must be with Caden, looking at the clock on the wall, she knows this about time they give AJ her daily blood transfusion. Lily rises from her bed, wrapping in a shawl, and slipping on her ugg boot slippers. She walks in a laboured fashion towards Caden's room and enters.

At the foot of Caden's bed is a very pretty Auburn-haired she-wolf, sitting on a chair, and rubbing Caden's feet. She is dressed in hospital scrubs, but Lily does not recognise her as one of the nurses working at the clinic. Caden appears to be dozing asleep, with his chest bare, showcasing his ripped muscles. Baby AJ is lying on his chest, having skin to skin time, while Caden's blood is being slowly drip fed into her veins. The doctors have said that skin to skin time is important for the baby and will help with her recovery. Still...Lily's wolf has her hackles raised. Why is such a pretty she-wolf attending her half naked mate, and rubbing his feet like this? Lily tries to shake her head of her wolf's non-sensical jealously. After all, she had Atlas, a chosen mate. Why is she getting jealous of another woman touching Caden? He surely had many females over the last four years, a hot-blooded Alpha male, could not have remained celibate for that long. Still there is something about this red-head she dislikes.

"Who are you?" asks Lily, her voice coming out a little harsher than she intended. The young she-wolf looks up and immediately stands and bows to Lily.

"Luna Lily, my name is Crystal. I am from Silvermoon pack, like you. I came to Silvermoon with my mother around six months before you left. But I was few years younger than you, and both of us did not socialise much at that time. I believe you were keeping yourself in seclusion, and I was so busy...with work" says Crystal, going red and looking down at the floor, when she mentioned her work.

Lily strides over to her "why are you rubbing Alpha Knight's feet like that?"

"Oh well Caspian asked to me to help out at the clinic today. One of the nurses is off sick and they are understaffed. I'm studying to become a podiatrist, so I was going room by room to give relief to patients. I was coming to you next" replies Crystal.

"I don't really know much about podiatry, but what can a foot rub really do to help?" asks Lily, who is now curious about what Crystal was doing with Caden's feet.

"As a podiatrist we are taught about a special vein in the foot that runs the length of the body. It is the Great Saphenous Vein or GSV for short. It is the longest vein in the human body, running from the top of the foot, up the inside of the leg, and into the groin where it connects to the femoral vein" says Crystal as she walks back to Caden's feet and points to where the vein is "this is why foot massagers are highly effective at boosting blood circulation. By applying mechanical stimulation like kneading, vibration, and air compression, it encourages blood flow through the veins and arteries of the lower extremities. This helps deliver oxygen to tissues and aids in clearing metabolic waste"

"Oh...I didn't realise a foot massage could do all of that" replies Lily, now feeling a little silly for her initial dislike of the young she-wolf. Clearly Crystal was only trying to help with Caden's recovery.

"Well...you're not the only one who thinks that way. In fact, a lot of doctors don't believe in our profession, they think it's just holistic nonsense, but there are many scientific studies to prove what we do works. I started studying it to help my sick mother. Due to her long illness, she has become sedentary, lying and sitting down for long periods of time, she has developed neuropathy and other issues. I've found that the massaging really helps her with pain relief and other benefits" exclaims Crystal, she is clearly passionate about her profession "I could teach you some basic techniques if you like? You can even massage baby AJ when she reaches a certain weight. I could show you some basic baby massaging techniques too"
