Chapter 74 - Stay Alive!

Having lost their vehicle and not wanting to risk going near the destroyed CBC compound to look for another vehicle, Christie has sniffed out where Atlas has hidden his motor bike. It was hidden in a nearby copse of trees and shrubs. As all three of them cannot fit on the one motorbike, Christie decides this will be the best place for them to wait it out. She signals to Crystal to keep herself and Xavier hidden.

They watch in awe, as more explosions are going off, the entire CBC compound is going up in flames. If the males don't get out of the building soon, they will all die. What to do?

Just then they see Caspian and Atlas emerge from the building, they are half carrying half dragging, a very injured Alpha Knight with them. The three of them manage to exit the CBC building, just as it collapses into flames. They rush towards the entrance of the compound, the barricades have been removed and the gates are open, full evacuation procedure have begun. All the CBC soldiers are too busy trying to save themselves to notice the prisoners getting away. Atlas orders Caspian to head towards the very patch of bushes his bike is hidden. Christie releases a breath she didn't realise she was holding, her mate is safe, and the CBC have been destroyed, she can hardly believe it.

As soon as the males' approach, they lay Caden down on the ground. Xavier rushes over to Atlas "pappa, pappa!" Atlas crouches down and hugs his son tight to him "you did good Xavier; you protected the females and escaped! I'm so proud of you!" Xavier looks over at Caden lying on the ground, slowly bleeding out "pappa will he be okay? He looks hurt?"

Caden reaches his hand out towards Xavier "pup, will you come hold my hand? I would like to touch you, just once, before I meet the goddess?" Xavier glances at Atlas, and his father nods to him "go on, hold his hand, it will make him feel better" Xavier walks over to Caden, and crouches down and takes his hand. Caden's wolf whines out to his pup.

"Xavier you are an amazing boy. I wish I met you sooner, and we had more time together. You need to go to your mother now, but I feel at peace, as I know you will protect her for the rest of your life. Will you give her a message from me?" Xavier nods his head to Caden, as he grips his biological father's hand.

"Tell her that I love her even more, now I've met you. What an amazing mother she is to raise a special pup like you. Tell her I'm sorry for any pain I caused her, and I will wait with the goddess for her. This may not make sense son, but I love you too, and I'll wait for you too. Tell Lily, when I look at you, I feel that I did something right as a mate. We created you, and you are such a blessing. You need to go to your mother now, as I made a vow to her that I would get you and your father back to her".

Caden looks up to Atlas, who has wheeled his bike out from the bushes "you should go now, the two of you can both fit on the bike and you will get to Redwood faster on your own" Atlas nods at Caden, he doesn't want to leave him, but he needs to get Xavier to safety.

Christie and Caspian are kneeling next to Caden and are assessing his wounds. "I have the keys to the CBC ambulance, which is well stocked with first aid supplies. If we can get to it, I think there is enough equipment that I could remove the silver bullets. They don't look too deep, so I'll be able to pull them out and we can bandage the wounds and stop the bleeding. If we can remove the bullets, and stem the bleeding, there might be a slim chance to save him" says Caspian "but I think I'll need both of you to help me get the vehicle" he says looking at both Christie and Crystal "we may need to shift and kill any CBC guards that are still around. Follow me, we need to go now if we have any chance of saving him". Caspian rushes off towards the large garage area to the far west of the CBC compound, where the ambulance is parked. The she-wolves quickly follow behind him.

Atlas has wheeled the motorbike out onto the gravel trail and pushes the kickstand out to keep the bike upright, he then comes overs to Caden, who is still holding onto Xaviers hand. Atlas walks over and crouches down beside Caden, he takes Xavier's hand in his, and clasps Caden's hand "I will convey your words to Rose, but I think you should tell yourself, stay alive Caden".
