Caden's heart stops, as he stares at Xavier's face. The child has the Alpha's steel grey eyes, with gold flecks swirling. Even at such a young age, the boy's wolf is already present, trying to surface, a clear sign he is a blueblood. Caden's gaze runs over Xavier's features. He has seen similar before, a strong chin and jaw, high cheekbones, even in his young, rounded face. The blueblood Alpha is looking into a little mirror of himself.
Xavier looks up, eyes going wide, as they land on the huge Alpha in front of him. Time seems to freeze as the two bluebloods stare at each other, as though the world has come to a complete standstill. Caden doesn't know how much time passes - it feels like many minutes have passed—maybe it's seconds. But they just remain still, and in that moment, he knows. Wolf shifters have a keen sense for many things. They can sense, with an instinct that precedes conscious thought, their pack, their mate, and their own blood. Caden's wolf surges forward, recognition slamming into him so hard it nearly drives him to his knees. Something primal and absolute flares inside the Alpha My son...this boy is mine!

Christie wakes slowly, fighting a familiar drug-induced haze for consciousness. She is cold, stiff, and her throat is dry. She doesn't need full use of her faculties to know the CBC have captured her. That much is plain enough.
She is patient, waiting for the influence of the medication to fade as she focuses on her breathing. Christie tries to assess her surroundings using the senses currently available to her. Despite her impairment, she identifies the scents of Caspian and Atlas, they are all in close proximity. But where is Xavier?
Her keen wolf hearing can detect several guards nearby, two, possibly three men...standing guard outside the room. Her lashes flutter, her brow knits with the effort to force open her eyes. When she finally manages it, her eyes struggle to adjust to the light now filtering into her iris, the LED lights still seem painfully bright.
Her vision remains blurry, and her view of the room before her is skewed by the fact that she is lying on her side. Still, she manages to see Caspian lying near her. Sensing his mate, his eyes flutter open too and he stares at her. She manages to bring her pointer finger up to her mouth, signaling for him to stay silent and still. He nods in recognition.
Turning her head, there are metal bars only inches from her nose. Judging by the vertical bars, they are being held in some type of jail cell. Christie painfully rolls her body over. On the opposite side of the bars, she can see a second cell, holding Atlas. He too, is beginning to stir and wake up. Atlas opens his eyes and looks at the Gamma, nodding in acknowledgment, he knows not to panic.
The sound of booted feet approaching steals Christie's attention, and she narrows her gaze as two CBC guards enter the room. Through hooded lashes, she watches the distorted image of the looming humans as they stride past the cells, inspecting the prisoners. The hair on the back of her neck prickles in anticipation. This may be their only chance to escape and find Xavier.
Atlas and Christie, being highly trained in situations like this lay very still, slowing their beathing, and pretending to be dead. Caspian follows their lead, not making a sound or movement.
"They should be awake by now" says the first guard to the other guard "do you think we over did it with the tranquilizers?"
"I hope not! Derek will have our heads if we've accidentally killed them. He's already pissed that Tony fumbled guarding Alpha Roberts, by letting him escape"
"We better check they're alive. You examine Alpha Atlas, and I'll look at these two". Opening both cells, the guards enter a cell each. The guard entering Atlas's cell, nudges the Alpha roughly with the toe of his boot, getting no response. He crouches down to get a closer look at the male shifter to check if he's still breathing. The other guard in the neighbouring cell does the same with Christie.
