"Affirmative! We have them, they are getting into the car now" says Christie, speaking into the handheld CB radio transmitter, as Atlas and Xavier climb into the range rover. Caspian helps secure Xavier's seat belt, and then climbs into the passenger seat, next to Christie. Christie is sitting in the driver's seat, communicating with Alpha Knight, as instructed by Knox.
"Where is Knox?" asks Caden
"He chased after Alpha Roberts into the forest, they both shifted. We have no way of tracking them currently"
Caden feels uneasy, this wasn't part of the plan. Atlas and Xavier were meant to be released to Alpha Knox. Although he has complete faith in his Gamma, he'd prefer the powerful blue blood Alpha to be overseeing the operation.
"Ok then, leave immediately. Head straight to Redwood Pack, no stopping. You must ensure Atlas and Xavier are returned safely to Lily...and tell her..." Caden pauses, what can his parting words be to his mate? How can he tell her how much he loves her? How he'll wait with the goddess for her? How sorry he is that he'll never get to see her again. There are just so many feelings he wants to convey to her.
"Tell Lily what?" Christie asks
"Just tell her...I'm sorry...for everything"
"Caden are you sure you want to this?" pleads Christie, she doesn't want her Alpha to sacrifice himself.
"It's already done; the deal has been struck. I made a promise to Lily, one I'm determined to keep. I broke my vows to her as a mate, but I will not fail her in this. Saving Atlas and Xavier is my only way of redemption. Go now, and don't turn back!" commands the Alpha.
Caden switches off his transmitter radio, drops it to the ground, and stomps on it with his heavy boots. Crushing the device instantly under his strength; he wants it destroyed so the CBC cannot trace them. Standing at the entrance of the CBC compound, the Alpha looks at the CBC guard and nods, signaling them to open the gates. The gates swing open, and Alpha Knight walks in, surrendering himself to the CBC.

Hearing the transmitter crackle and explode, with no more ability to communicate to her Alpha, Christie has no choice but to leave. Throwing the car into gear, the Gamma wastes no time departing. She revs the engine and accelerates away from the compound. As instructed by Caden, she wants to get to Redwood as quickly as she can. It will be all off-roading for some distance until they reach the gravel roads, and then onto the main roads. Taking the same trail, they used to get here, she skillfully manoeuvres the vehicle across the rough terrain. Coming around a sharp bend, suddenly there is a large pop followed by a hissing sound. The tyres have blown out, the vehicle starts swerving, and Christie is finding it hard to maintain control. She slows the vehicle to a stop and turns towards the back seat and looks at Atlas, who is clutching Xavier's hand.
"We have a flat tyre. Stay here with Xavier, while I check it out" says Christie as she exits the vehicle. Caspian climbs out too. Leaning down they inspect the punctured tyres; there is something protruding from the rubber. Caspian pulls out the object and shows Christie. The tyres have been punctured with metal spikes. Christie scans the ground; there are spikes strewn everywhere it's a trap!
"We need to get out of here now!" she says to Caspian, but to her horror she sees a dart fly through the air and hit him in the neck. Before she has time to reach Caspian, she feels the familiar sting of a tranquilizer dart hitting her own neck, and then all goes black.

"I think that is all we should draw for now, we've taken three pints of blood, that's three times the amount a healthy human male can handle" says the CBC scientist, who is currently withdrawing the needle from Caden's arm.
