The res of the mission went without a hitch. Tazuna finished the bridge, Sasuke and Naruto healed up fast and we all got some well needed rest. The villagers were happy that they could finally get out of the depths of debt and actually have the chance to earn some money again. After our mission was done we made our way back to the Hidden Leaf Village.
"You guys did great on hat mission, when we get back I'll report to the Hokage and you three get some we; deserved time off" My father said as the village gates came into view.
"Alright! Thank you Kakashi-Sensei! I'm gonna go get myself some ramen!" Naruto exclaimed jumping up and down with excitement.
When we walked through the village gates everyone split up and went their own ways. My first goal was to locate Neji Hyuga. I walked over to the training ground Neji uses but no one was there so I decided to try to go to the Hyuga household and see if I could locate Neji there. I made my way across the village over to where the Hyuga household stood. I knocked and shortly the head of the household, Hinata Hyuga's father, answered the door.
"Hitomi Hatake, I expected you around here shortly. Neji told me about his assumptions on you and your curiosity" He said as I respectfully bowed my head.
"Yes sir. I'm looking for Neji himself sir." I said as I straightened myself up from bowing to look up at him.
"Right this way Hitomi" He said as I slipped off my shoes and followed him inside the house.
As we walked farther into the house I could hear people fighting, physically. Lord Hiashi slide open a door and I saw Neji training with Hinata. They stopped when I walked in.
"Hitomi" Neji spoke up making his way over "glad to see you"
After he made his way over to me he turned his attention to Hinata.
"We'll continue our training some other time Lady Hinata" He said coolly before turning to his uncle, Lord Hiashi "Hitomi and I have some business to take care of"
With that Lord Hiashi nodded and Neji and I exited the house.
"Lord Hiashi told me the story about who your mother is when I had come to him about my suspicions on you. He then told me that when the time comes that I should be the one to train you," Neji explained as we made our way towards the training grounds. "After all we are related and part of the side branch of the Hyuga clan. Although you escaped the side branches main duty."
I looked up at Neji and noticed the look on his face. He was mad but quickly shook it off when he noticed I was looking at him.
"Neji. What do you mean the duty of the side-branch?" I said grabbing onto his arm so he couldn't keep walking and avoid my question.
"You see. Hinata's father, Lord Hiashi, is the head of the main branch being the oldest of his siblings. His siblings then become part of the side branch, as I am and you technically, but the side branch is designed to protect the Byakugan's secrets. We are placed under a curse from the main branch to protect the secret or die. It is our destiny." Neji said tapping his forehead in which I assume is an indication to where his curse mark lay.
By the end of Neji's story we had reached Neji's normal training point. I was still staring at Neji.
"But Neji that isn't fair! You should be able to choose your own destiny!" I yelled tightening my fist.
Neji pushed me back by the shoulders causing me to lower my head and my fist.
"My apologize Neji." I said as I messed with my fingers avoiding Neji's eye contact.
"I don't expect you to understand but my uncle told me how you are a lot more special to our clan then even him and I am curious to see why." He said thoughtfully before patting my shoulder to lighten the mood a tad.
"It's probably just because I control both the Sharingan and Byakugan?" I said as Neji then remembered what he had said before my mission.
"Right right. Your father is Kakashi-Sensei and you were born with the Sharingan shining in both eyes." Neji said remembering.
"Yeah he probably said that because it is still a mystery on why I have the Sharingan sense the Uchiha blood doesn't run in me and I shouldn't of gotten it from my father cause it isn't the Hatake kekkei genkai. That's probably what he meant" I said looking back up at Neji who simply nodded.
"That is special. We should start training soon. The Byakugan is hard to get a handle on" Neji said laying a hand on my head.
I find it funny how I have always been told how Neji Hyuga is a tough guy but he is honestly super sweet and sort of a softy around me. I appreciate all he is doing for me.
