Sharingan:Byakugan Combination

Chapter 38

Darkness... I'm floating in it.. I am unable to feel anything...  No sound could be heard after the blood curling scream faded.  What's happening? It's so dark and cold but what is this burning I feel

***3rd Person POV***

Having Naruto cornered Hitomi looked to the crowd with a smirk that only suggested she had this match in the bag.  Suddenly, faster then lighting, a blood curling scream erupted from the field.  The scream was so sudden that no one could locate the source at first.  After a moment the crowd began to realize the scream was coming from Hitomi herself.  She had collapsed into the fetal position hands intertwined with her hair.  Another horrifying scream ripped through the air.

"What the.." Hiashi Hyuga mumbled with his Byakugan activated as his eyes snapped to Hitomi's twitching body.
Only the Hyuga family members saw the black cloud like vapor that was engulfing Hitomi's body.  Almost as if she had was burning under a black flame.  Hiashi took off down the the field to assist the medical ninja and explaining what he was seeing.

"Someone needs to inform Kakashi..." One ninja said as they lifted Hitomi on a stretcher.

"He still has not returned to the village"

"Well find him."
Up in the competitors box Shikamaru's face was contorted with frustration as the sand ninja, with the exclusion of Gaara, all laughed.  Shino's anger boiled although no sign appeared on his face.  Shino began awaiting his match with Kankuro itching to beat the smirk right off of his snarky face.  Down on the field the proctor raised his hand to silence the rowdy crowd.  Once they were all silent he spoke in a hesitant voice because he still did not understand what he had just witnessed.

"Naruto Uzamaki is the winner!"
Naruto, whose back was still against a tree, shook his head and looked out at the crowd.  He was angry and upset, not able to accept the win as he had imagined.  He was worried about Hitomi and did not feel as if the match went fairly.  He returned to the box still mad at the outcome of his fight.

"That match was bullshit.  I hope she's ok" He was mumbling to himself but his words did not go unnoticed by his competitors.
Shikamaru looked back towards to hallway Naruto entered from and wondered where Hitomi was and if she was ok.

Back in the medic room, three medical ninja were working to heal Hitomi who was still unresponsive.  She seemed to be in a sort of coma but she was stabilizing.  Once the med ninja had stabilized her fully they returned to the arena to watch the next match.

***Hitomi's POV***

After floating for what seemed like forever, sounds started to filter into the darkness.  They became clearer but still sounded far away.  The sounds, once they became clear enough, ended up being two voices having a conversation.

"What a freak.  It is a good thing we happened to be walking by."  One voice said the words dripping the anger the person was feeling.

"Yeah.  That kid scares me.  What a drag, I cant believe this fight is going to happen" The second voice spoke in a more calm manner but you could hear the tenseness behind every word.
Drag? The only person I know that says that is Shikamaru.  I'm positive that is who the second voice belongs to.  I attempted to fight towards the voice but I couldn't move.

"Next time I'll get him.  Just believe it!"  The first voice spoke again still angry.
I'm sure the first voice belongs to Naruto.  Hearing these two gave me a strength as I tried harder to pull myself out of the darkness.  No matter how hard I fought, I couldn't get myself out of the darkness.

"Come on Naruto, let's go watch Sasuke and Gaara's fight" Shikamaru said as footsteps began to recede from the room.
Sasuke? That means my dad is here.  Where is he?  Why hasn't he come to see me?  All the questions swirled in my head as I fought to pull myself out of the darkness for what felt like hours.  Eventually a ball of light appeared and I could pull myself towards it.  I felt like I was moving through thick water trying to get myself towards the light.  I felt like I would never get out of this darkness when a sudden explosion sounded which snapped the light into my vision.  The medical room snapped into view around me.  At first I was completely confused, questions kept swimming in my mind.  What was that sound? Where did it come from? Then the answer hit me.

"Sasuke!" The word left my mouth before I could stop myself.
I threw myself out of the bed and quickly pulled on my shoes.  I stumbled my way back towards the arena.  My body still felt as if I was engulfed in fire but adrenaline pulsed through me.  When I made my way back into the arena I noticed multiple things.  The first thing I saw was the tower where the Hokage was sitting during my match was smoking as if it had been attacked.  As I turned to exam the rest of the arena I noticed that all the viewers were asleep except for most of the leaf ninjas.  This has to be some form of genjutsu. The last thing I noticed is that the sand ninja were gone and so was Sasuke, Shino and Neji.

"Dad!" I yelled seeing him a few sections to my right talking to Naruto and Shikamaru.

"Hitomi!" Naruto and Shikamaru both yelled in unison looking around my dad whose back was to me.
I quickly made my way over to the three of them and was met by a tight embrace from Naruto and Shikamaru.  My dad's hand fell on my head.

"I'm glad you are okay but you are in no shape to help, you need to stay back and stay safe."  My dad said sternly.

"What is going on? Where is Sasuke, Shino and Neji? What happens to the sand ninja?"  The questions spilled out one after another giving no one time to answer. "If something bad has happened it is my duty as a ninja to help."

"Someone, we're assuming sand and sound ninja have attacked the village.  We believe Orochimaru is behind this." My dad started to explain sending a shiver up my spine at the sound of his name.
My mind began to worry about Sasuke because Orochimaru was after him.

"The three sand genin took off and Sasuke and Shino went after them.  Neji and Guy went to help out the boarder ninjas.  I am sending Naruto and Shikamaru after Sasuke". My dad finished noticing my worried expression.
He knelt down and put his hand on my shoulder.

"Don't worry.  Everyone will be safe but you need to stay here."

"I won't!" I snapped standing tall "I protect my village and my friends.  I will never back down because that is my ninja way."
At first no one spoke but I could tell my dad was smiling under his mask.

"Very well then, I'm sending Pakkun with you to help you track them.   Please be safe and do not push yourself too hard."  My dad said as he turned around and summoned the dog Pakkun.

"Let's go!" Naruto yelled before the three of us took off after Sasuke.
Don't be stupid Sasuke.
