"Hey, Dara," I heard him yell, making me turn to where he was about to mount the stage.

"I love you," he shouted before running onto the stage, leaving me flustered amid my family, his family, and his entire crew.

"I love you too," I whispered under my breath before walking into the secluded area for all of us.

I had been to his Nigerian concert before, so when I saw Yemi running on the stage to the microphone behind a piano and the large crowd cheering for him, I just smiled.

Suddenly, the loud sound of the drum thumped the entire stage to silence. The keys of the keyboard followed it.

"Are you ready for a life-changing time in God's presence?" Yemi shouted into the mic, and the crowd went wild.

The crowd suddenly settled at the sound of his voice. He started singing one of his songs titled Enlighten Me.

I watched as everyone waved gently to the slow rhythm, but then focused my attention on the man who sat behind the keys.

When my heart was crushed, it felt like I was blind,

All the wonders of the world had suddenly gone dark

I wanted to run and hide like I was chased a thousand miles,

from the demons of my life, that were suddenly on my side

Ooh, but then I remembered the nights when I was scared

And I remember the words that kept me sane.

He will not leave me, he will not hurt me,

He will uphold me, he will always hold me...

And so, I became en-lighted, like a spark lit in me

I became strengthened by the war before me,

I stood up and cleaned my tears because Christ enlightened me.

He sang the lyrics as though they were for him, but in a strange way, for anyone who had gone through a hard time. We all sang along, and I suddenly felt a hand wrap around mine. I turned to see my daughter looking at me with slight tears. I smiled because even though Grace was young, she was never oblivious to what went on around me. I couldn't thank God enough for giving me a daughter who understood.

We continued like that for more than an hour, just listening to his full album, and I had to admit, he was damn good.

"The entire crew and I, appreciate you all for taking the time to meet with God tonight, and so I wanted you all to witness a special night for me. This last song hasn't been released yet cause I haven't asked permission. It is a song for someone who has inspired me the way Jesus has, and if it's alright with you all, I'd like to bring her up here?" Yemi asked, and the crowd screamed a yes.

I watched as he jumped down from the stage and jogged to where we were. He suddenly stopped in front of me, and my heart started beating fast because what the heck did he think he was doing? I must have been in a trance because my legs started walking with him as he walked us to the stage. It wasn't until we got on stage that my nerves began to act up.

What in heaven's name was this guy doing to me?

"This song is from God and me to you," he whispered into the microphone and started singing.

You have gone through the worst of pains,

But you never gave up

You have walked through valleys low.

But you always rise up

I have never been more proud of you, my child,

I have watched you become a butterfly

Your wings soar higher despite all your trials

Your heart is bigger than your desires.

He stopped for a bit and stared at me while I watched him with a stillness in my heart. Was God complimenting me?

When the nights were dark, and you were alone

You never snuffed out

Your light shone brighter every hour

So you always stood out.

I took your hand and led you through the waters

I watched you swim faster

I held on like I said I would, so you never falter

So you can rest in me forever.

I couldn't believe the words that he sang, and I didn't know when he stopped or even walked closer to me.

"As I said, I want this entire crowd to witness this special night in my life. When God told me to go to Nigeria, I just thought it was another assignment, but as soon as I met you and I got to know you, it became clearer that you weren't an assignment for me to uncover, but someone I wanted to go on assignments with. You have helped me discover God differently, and I'd be damned if I let you slip away. Which is why," he stopped and went down on one knee, making my hand fly to my mouth.

"In front of this entire crowd, I'm asking you to accompany me on many assignments to come. Oluwadarasimi, will you please marry me?" he finally asked, and just as the crowd shouted, I whispered.

"Yes!" and then I jumped into his arms. This was not what I expected at all, but damn, I was happy.

He chuckled into my hair and pulled away before opening a small box and bringing out a beautiful silver band ring with sapphire diamonds embedded on all sides and a small pearl-cut blue sapphire diamond in the middle. He wore it on my finger and kissed it.

"Finally, I will soon get to call you my wife, and Grace, our daughter," he whispered.

Yes, finally.
