He beats up your ex- Semi

You weren't supposed to run into him.

Not here. Not now. Not when you were finally starting to breathe again.

But life had a cruel sense of humor.

One minute you were walking out of class, digging through your bag for your headphones- the next, a hand clamped around your wrist.

Hard. Too hard. Too familiar.

"Did you miss me, sweetheart?" His voice slithered down your spine like oil.

Your stomach twisted. His grip tightened, fingers digging into an already fading bruise.

You tried to pull away.

"Don't-touch me."

He only smiled. "I used to touch you all the time."

Your blood went cold.

Before you could force your voice to work-

Someone else's voice cut into the air like a blade.

"Let go of her."

Semi.

He'd been walking toward the courtyard, guitar case slung over his shoulder, head down- until he saw that.

Your wrist in another man's hand. Your body stiff with fear. The bruises.

The bruises you told everyone "weren't from him." Even though they were.

Semi froze for a split second- long enough for something dark to strike through his eyes. Then the guitar case hit the pavement.

Your ex turned, scoffing. "And who the hell are y-"

He didn't finish.

Semi shoved him so hard the guy stumbled back into a bench.

He didn't yell. Didn't posture. Didn't give the man the satisfaction of his rage.

His voice was low. Controlled. Dangerous.

"Touch her again. And I'll break your fucking arm."

Your ex snarled and lunged, reaching for your wrist again-

Semi grabbed him first.

He slammed him against the brick wall so fast you didn't even process it until the sound rang out.

Your ex choked, pinned by the front of his shirt. Semi leaned in, voice a threat wrapped in ice.

"I should've done this a long time ago."

"Semi-" you breathed, stepping closer.

But you realized something- he wasn't out of control.

He wasn't blind with rage.

He was calculatingly furious. Because he had seen the bruises. And he was finally, finally putting the pieces together.

Your ex tried to shove him back. Mistake.

Semi's forearm pressed harder into his chest.

"She said 'don't touch her.' You didn't listen." His jaw flexed. "You put your hands on her then, and you tried to do it again now."

Your ex spat, "It's not your business-"

Semi's fist shot forward, slamming next to the guy's head on the wall, knuckles cracking against brick.

Your ex flinched hard.

Semi didn't touch him again- but he didn't need to.

"She is absolutely my business," he said in a voice that sent chills through you. "And you're never coming near her again."

Finally, he shoved the man away. Your ex hit the ground, scrambling back with a string of curses-and fear in his eyes.

He ran.

The moment he was gone, the fury drained out of Semi so quickly it made him sway.

He turned to you, breathing hard.

"Y/N," he whispered, stepping slowly toward you, like he was afraid you might run from him.

"You okay? Did he hurt you? Did he-"

You shook your head fast. "He didn't get the chance."

Semi's eyes flicked to your wrist. The bruise was new. Still deep purple.

His hands curled into fists again.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked quietly, like it physically hurt to say it.

You swallowed. "I didn't want you to worry."

He stepped closer- close enough his forehead nearly touched yours.

"You think I don't worry about you?" he whispered, voice breaking. "You think I haven't wanted to protect you since the day I met you?"

Your breath caught.

He lifted your wrist gently, so gently it made your chest ache, and pressed the softest kiss to the bruise.

"I'm never letting him near you again," he murmured against your skin. "I promise."

Your eyes stung.

"Semi... why do you care so much?"

He looked up at you- eyes warm, fierce, terrified, hopeful.

"Because I'm in love with you," he said, no hesitation left. "And seeing him touch you-seeing what he did-" He shook his head, jaw tight. "I couldn't hold it in anymore."

Your heart stopped. Then sped up so fast it dizzying.

"Semi..."

"I'm here," he whispered. "From now on, I'm here."
