You were at a friend's house-one of those lazy weekend hangouts that somehow turned into a "let's play something dumb" kind of night. Music was playing low, snacks were scattered everywhere, and laughter echoed around the living room.
Somehow, the conversation turned to dares and silly challenges, and someone suggested Seven Minutes in Heaven. You groaned, expecting to sit out. But before you could protest, a familiar voice piped up.
"Don't worry," Hanamaki said, leaning casually against the wall with that infuriating grin of his. "I'll make sure it's worth your time."
You rolled your eyes, but your stomach did that weird fluttery thing anyway.
The bottle spun, and fate-or luck-pointed it squarely at you. The other end landed on Hanamaki.
"Seriously?" you asked, trying to sound annoyed but failing miserably.
He shrugged, mock-innocent. "What? I didn't spin the bottle. But now that we're here..." His eyes sparkled with mischief. "...might as well make it interesting."
You walked toward the small, dimly lit corner he'd already chosen, heart thumping faster with every step. Once the door clicked shut behind you, silence enveloped you both.
Hanamaki stepped closer, voice low. "You've always been kind of... impossible to ignore."
You scoffed lightly, trying to mask the flush creeping across your cheeks. "Impossible to ignore, huh?"
He tilted his head, a smirk tugging at his lips. "...In a good way."
Heat pooled in your chest as he closed the distance between you. "You know," he whispered, "...I've liked you for longer than I care to admit."
Your breath caught. "...You what?"
"Don't get all flustered on me now," he teased, leaning in until his forehead brushed yours. "...I meant it."
Before you could respond, he captured your lips in a slow, teasing kiss. Your hands instinctively moved to his shoulders, pulling him closer as the kiss deepened. He smirked against your lips, whispering, "About time I told you."
Your pulse raced as you pulled back slightly, cheeks flushed. "And if I... I like you too?"
Hanamaki's grin widened, eyes sparkling with triumph. "Then we're both in trouble."
The faint click of the closet door reminded you time was ticking, but neither of you moved. Not yet. Not when this was finally happening-after all the teasing, all the late-night glances, all the little jokes only the two of you shared.
"...Seven minutes?" you murmured, voice breathless.
He chuckled, eyes darkening with playful intent. "Seven minutes? Nah. I think we might need more than that."
And for the first time that night, you let yourself forget everyone else. Just you, him, and the spark that had been simmering for far too long.
