I don't hate you- Atsumu

You and Atsumu had been bickering since the moment the teacher paired you for the semester project. He complained about your "overachiever energy." You complained about his "barely-passing student athlete brain."

It was mutual... irritation. (And something else you refused to name.)

You're halfway through the project when it happens.

Another argument.

Another stupid blow-up.

You're in an empty classroom after practice, papers spread everywhere, both of you tired and on edge. Atsumu runs a hand through his sweaty hair, groaning.

"You don't gotta correct every single thing I write," he snaps. "I'm not an idiot."

You fire back without thinking. "Then maybe stop acting like one!"

His head snaps up.

The room goes quiet.

You realize a beat too late that you hit something deeper than you meant to.

Atsumu laughs-but it's sharp, not cocky. Not the usual Atsumu at all.

"Y'know what?" he says, voice low. "I don't hate you... but you make it really damn hard not to."

Your stomach drops.

Because he looks... hurt. And you've never seen Atsumu Miya look hurt.

You open your mouth, but he keeps going-voice rougher than before:

"You think I don't try? I stay up doing your stupid notes and rewrites 'cause I don't wanna drag you down." He looks away. "I get that I'm not perfect. But you don't gotta talk to me like I'm useless."

You step closer before you can stop yourself.

"Atsumu... I didn't mean it like that."

He huffs out a breath-like he wants to believe you but doesn't know how.

And then you say the quiet thing, the real thing:

"I don't think you're useless. I think you get under my skin."

His eyes flick to yours.

Slowly. Sharply. Like he's hearing something you didn't say out loud.

"...Under your skin, huh?"

He takes one step closer. Then another.

Close enough that you can hear his breath.

"Maybe that's why we fight so much," he murmurs. A hint of a smirk returns-soft, almost shy. "'Cause I like you. And I'm real bad at hiding it."

You swallow.

Because suddenly the project is the last thing on your mind.

"And maybe," you whisper back, "I like you too... and I'm real bad at admitting it."

Atsumu's grin finally breaks through-bright, relieved, a little stunned.

"Guess we're both idiots then," he says softly.

Before you can respond, he leans in-

Not quite kissing you. Just close enough to make you wonder.

"We can finish the project later," he murmurs. "Right now... I wanna figure this out."

The air between us was thick-too heavy to ignore. The papers on the desk, the empty classroom, the faint hum of the fluorescent lights-it all faded. It was just us. Just Atsumu and me.

He didn't pull away. He leaned closer, that mischievous glint in his eyes replaced by something softer, warmer, more... real. My heart hammered so loud I was sure he could hear it.

"Are you sure about this?" I whispered, barely able to breathe.

He smirked, but it didn't reach his eyes this time. No bravado. Just honesty. "You've been telling me you like me all day, whether you knew it or not."

I blinked, and suddenly he was closing the gap. Slowly at first, careful, giving me time to stop him. But when I didn't, when I didn't even pull back, he pressed his lips to mine.

It was soft at first-gentle and testing, like he was trying to memorize every curve, every movement. My hands found their way to his chest, feeling the warmth under the jersey, the steady thrum of his heartbeat matching mine.

Then, slowly, the kiss deepened. His fingers tangled in my hair, tilting my head slightly as if to claim me, but not forcefully. It was a kiss that said I've wanted this for a long time, a kiss that melted every ounce of frustration and fear we'd carried through our arguments.

I closed my eyes, letting it wash over me-the heat, the longing, the relief. He pulled me closer, and I felt the faint tremble in his body matching my own. We broke apart for just a breath, foreheads resting together, eyes closed, breathing mingling.

"I've been a damn idiot," he murmured, voice rough, "thinking I could hide this from you."

"You too," I whispered, laughing softly, my hands still on him. "We're both idiots."

He grinned against my lips, leaning in for another kiss, more confident this time, more urgent, and I let him. Because I was tired of fighting, tired of hiding, tired of pretending.

It wasn't about the project anymore. It was about us. And for the first time, I knew that whatever chaos came next, we'd face it together.
