Your best friend had dragged you over for a "low-key movie night," which you quickly realized was code for "Daichi's teammates will inevitably show up and eat all the snacks."

You didn't mind. You practically grew up in this house. Daichi had always been around-responsible, polite, annoyingly gentle. The kind of guy who'd scold everyone but still hand them a snack afterward.

You were helping your best friend in the kitchen when the front door burst open.

"SAWAMURAAA! We brought food!" Tanaka and Noya yelled in chaotic unison.

Daichi groaned. "Can't you two knock?"

"Where's the fun in that?" Noya grinned.

Your best friend whispered to you, "I'm so sorry," before leaving you with the popcorn while she went to wrangle them.

You stepped into the living room-and felt Daichi's eyes land on you immediately.

It was a small glance, soft and warm, like he always looked at you. A familiar kind of comfort.

"You doing okay?" he asked quietly as you passed.

"Better than you," you teased. "Your teammates are terrorizing your home."

His laugh was low and sheepish. "Yeah... they tend to do that."

Before you could answer, Hinata-who apparently appeared out of thin air-shouted:

"Let's play a game!"

"No," Daichi said immediately.

"Yes," nearly everyone else said.

"SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN!" Noya hollered.

Daichi's face drained of color. "Absolutely not-"

But the boys were already dragging cushions onto the floor, chanting, cheering, and pulling you into the circle. Daichi sat stiffly beside them, clearly regretting every moment.

The bottle spun.

And spun.

And then- slowed... slowed... clicked to a stop pointing at...

You. And Daichi.

An explosion of laughter erupted.

Your best friend yelled, "OVER MY DEAD BODY!"

Tanaka shouted, "GO, CAPTAIN! THIS IS YOUR MOMENT!"

Daichi looked like he wanted the earth to swallow him whole.

You were shoved to your feet. Daichi was pushed up behind you, stumbling as he muttered, "Guys, stop-this is-come on-"

But the chanting was louder. The hallway longer. The door shutting behind both of you even louder.

Click.

Silence.

Daichi exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "I'm... so sorry about them."

You leaned back against the closet wall, smirking. "It's okay. This is probably the least chaotic thing they've dragged me into."

"That's what scares me," he said gently.

He turned toward you, shoulders relaxing slightly now that it was just you two. In the dim light, he looked different-warmer. Less captain, more Daichi. The Daichi who used to bandage your scraped knees. The Daichi who always made sure you walked home safe.

"You're not uncomfortable... right?" he asked softly. "I'd never want-"

"I'm fine," you said. "You're... you. I trust you."

That made him look away for a moment-like the words hit deeper than you meant.

He stepped closer-not touching, just close enough that you could feel the heat of him. "Okay," he murmured. "Good."

The air shifted-thicker, softer.

He lifted a hand but hesitated at your shoulder, waiting. When you didn't pull away, he let his fingers rest lightly, tracing a line down your arm that sent sparks through you.

"I've always liked being around you," he admitted quietly. "Maybe... more than I should."

Your breath hitched. "More than you should?"

He huffed a nervous laugh. "You're my sibling's best friend. There are... rules. Expectations."

You looked up at him through the dim, barely lit space. "Since when do you break rules?"

He smiled, embarrassed. "Almost never."

You tilted your head. "Maybe tonight's different."

And something in him finally snapped.

His hand cupped your cheek-firm, steady, like he'd been holding himself back for years. His forehead touched yours.

"Tell me to stop," he whispered.

You didn't.

So he kissed you-slow at first, gentle but deepening quickly like he'd been holding back a thousand things he never said.

You curled your fingers into his shirt. He inhaled sharply.

Then-

the door banged open.

"TIME'S UP-AHHHHHHHH!!!"

Everyone screamed. Your best friend looked like they were about to combust. Tanaka and Noya started chanting.

Daichi turned bright red.

He closed the door again-firmly-exhaled hard, then rested his forehead against it.

"When we leave," he whispered, "they're never gonna let me live this down."

You nudged him lightly. "Worth it?"

He turned back to you, eyes warmening as he leaned in again.

"Yeah," he said, voice low. "Definitely worth it."
