You'd always known Oikawa Tooru was a flirt. He thrived on winks, dazzling smiles, and playful comments that made entire crowds swoon. But you also thought you knew the difference between his game and something real.

At least, you hoped you did.

Because lately, he'd been different with you.

He lingered after practice, walking you home. He teased you gently, softer than the sharp sarcasm he threw at others. Sometimes, his eyes held something vulnerable-something he tried to laugh off when you noticed.

You told yourself not to read too much into it. Oikawa flirted with everyone. But sometimes it felt like he was dropping hints, breadcrumbs leading you toward something bigger.

You just didn't know what.

The truth hit you by accident.

Walking past the gym one afternoon, you froze when you heard his voice through the slightly open door.

"Don't tell me you actually like her," one of his teammates teased.

Oikawa laughed, too loud, too casual. "Relax. It's just a bet. First kiss by the end of the month, remember?"

The words slammed into you like a spike.

A bet.

Your chest hollowed out. The heat that had been fluttering through you these past weeks iced over in an instant.

You slipped away before anyone saw you, stomach twisting. How could you have been so stupid? Of course Oikawa's attention was a game. Of course it was practice, entertainment, a way to show off.

You'd been nothing more than a challenge.

The next days were agony.

You avoided him, dodging his attempts to talk, brushing past his smiles with curt nods. The more you pushed away, the harder he tried, confusion flashing across his face whenever you slipped through his fingers.

Finally, cornered in the quiet hallway after practice, he snapped.

"Okay, what did I do?"

You stiffened, eyes fixed anywhere but him. "Nothing."

"That's a lie." His voice sharpened. He stepped closer, blocking your path with one arm against the wall. "You've been acting weird all week. So tell me. What. Did. I. Do?"

The intensity in his eyes made your throat close. But anger bubbled hot beneath your ribs.

"You think this is funny, don't you?" Your voice trembled. "Playing with people's feelings? Treating me like some stupid bet?"

His face paled, shock flashing clear as glass. "What-"

"I heard you, Oikawa." The words tumbled out before you could stop them. "In the gym. You said it yourself-kiss me before the end of the month. Like it was a game to win."

His mouth opened, then shut. For once, the ever-smooth Oikawa Tooru was speechless.

You shook your head, throat tight. "I thought-" Your voice cracked. "I thought maybe you actually-forget it."

You shoved past him, but his hand caught your wrist, gentle but firm. "Wait."

"Oikawa-"

"No," he cut in, desperation lacing his tone. His usual arrogance stripped bare. "Yes, it started as a bet. They were teasing me about not having the guts to confess, so I-I played along. But it wasn't about winning. It was about you."

Your heart hammered, but you scoffed, bitter. "Convenient excuse."

He stepped closer, eyes fierce, almost pleading. "Do you really think I'd waste my time on someone I didn't care about? That I'd follow you after practice, memorize your coffee order, lose sleep thinking about how to make you smile-if it wasn't real?"

The sincerity in his voice cut through your defenses. His hand cupped your cheek, trembling slightly. "It was never just a bet. It was always you."

Your lips parted, breath shaky. He searched your face like his life depended on it.

"Oikawa-" you whispered.

That was all it took. He kissed you.

The first brush of his lips was soft, hesitant, like he was giving you every chance to pull away. But when you didn't-when you curled your fingers into his shirt and tugged him closer-the dam broke.

The kiss deepened instantly, urgency spilling through. His hands slid to your waist, tugging you against him, mouth moving over yours with desperate precision. You gasped, and he swallowed the sound, tongue brushing yours, tilting his head to kiss you harder.

Heat flared under your skin, your back pressing into the wall as he crowded you in. His thumb stroked your cheek, gentle even as his mouth grew more demanding.

You pulled back for air, lips swollen, chest heaving. His forehead rested against yours, breaths ragged. "I didn't want to win a bet," he murmured, voice breaking. "I wanted you."

Your heart clenched. Without thinking, you kissed him again.

This time there was no hesitation. Your hands threaded into his hair, tugging until he groaned against your lips. He pressed closer, chest flush with yours, his kisses messy and hungry, each one stealing what little breath you had left.

"Oikawa-" you gasped when his mouth trailed down to your jaw, brushing hot along your skin before finding your lips again.

"Say my name again," he whispered, kissing you like he'd been starving for it.

You did, and he kissed you deeper, as if the sound was fuel. His hands roamed-over your waist, your back-anchoring you to him, holding you like he might lose you if he let go.

Every time you tried to pull away, he chased your lips, stealing another kiss, softer, then harder, never enough.

It was dizzying-anger and hurt melting into heat and want until all that remained was him.

Finally, breathless, you broke apart, lips tingling, your forehead pressed to his.

"You're such an idiot," you whispered, voice shaky.

He laughed softly, relief in every breath. "Maybe. But I'm your idiot now, right?"

You rolled your eyes, but your smile gave you away. "We'll see."

And then you kissed him again-because after all that waiting, stopping wasn't an option.
