"Dave? Come on wake up."

"Hmm?" I open my eyes and see Dirk. He's hurrying to get dressed. "What are you- Ow!" I had started to sit up, but then what Dirk and I did early caught up to me. Dirk pauses in dressing and comes over to me.

"You ok?"

"Yeah. Just sore. What are you doing?"

"Getting ready for work. I'm sorry to wake you, but I'm sure you have things to do today too."

"What do you mean work? Since when do you work?" Dirk chuckles and kisses my forehead.

"I have a party to go to. You know, for a DJ. It's a lot earlier than my normal gigs. but I don't really care. I also think you have online school work to get done today. That's why I woke you. I'll be home later, be good."

"I'm always good." Dirk smiles and leaves his room. I rub my eyes trying to wake up more and hear him leave the apartment. I yawn, stretch, and then untangle myself from his blankets. It's weird waking up in his room at noon. I can't even remember ever being able to come in here let alone sleep in here. I pick up my discarded clothes and throw them in the bathroom hamper. After a nice shower to wake me up I finally head to my room and turn on my laptop. I do recall having online work, but I don't know how Dirk would know. I shrug it off and get to work.

About two and a half hours later I've just finished up all my work when there's a knock at the door. I shut my laptop and head to the door. I don't think about who's on the other side, but when I open it I definitely didn't expect to see Jake. "Oh, Dave. Is- is Dirk here?"

"Uh, no."

"Oh, ok." Jake looks down at his shoes. "Would you mind talking to me for a little while? Since Dirk isn't here."

"I... Guess not?" I open the door a little bit and Jake walks in. He sits down on the futon and leans his elbows on his knees. He hides his face in his hands.

"I'm such an idiot." I sigh and sit next to him. I don't want to talk to him. He broke up with Dirk. He made Dirk sad. But Dirk's happier now and Jake isn't.

"For breaking up with Dirk? Yes, yes you are an idiot."

"What am I suppose to do now?" Jake looks up at me frowning. "I know I don't deserve Dirk, but everyone makes mistakes. I want him back so bad Dave. He's your brother, you have to know something I could do to win him back." The desperation in his voice is killing me.

"I don't know Jake. Dirk actually might have moved on." Yeah, moved on with me.

"Already?"

"Well, you were having a lot of fights near the end. Maybe he started talking to someone." Why did Jake have to come to me. Doesn't he have friends his age besides Dirk.

"I messed up pretty bad, didn't I?"

"Clearly. Are you two even friends now?"

"Well, Dirk isn't really talking to me yet. I mean, I think we made up but I don't know. He's still mad at me."

"If you don't mind me asking, how did you break up with him?" Jake grimaces and I know it wasn't pretty.

"It was bad. I shouldn't have done it the way I did." Jake runs a hand through his hair. "I embarrassed him in front of a few people."

"A few?" Jake shakes his head.

"No, more than a few. I got mad because of something he said. It wasn't even worthy of getting mad over."

"You know he hates being embarrassed, and more people around makes it worse."

"I know. I'm just selfish sometimes and I take things the wrong way sometimes." Jake turns toward me. "Please help me win your brother back."
