Mine

Chapter Ten

I had a day off so I updated early, not sure if I'm still going to update on Friday or not.

Dirk started down the tree and I followed after him. I made sure I didn't step on his hands as we climbed down. When Dirk got to the last branch he jumped down and waited for me. "Hey, remember when you were little and you were afraid to jump down?"

"Yeah. I thought you weren't going to catch me, but you did."

"And I will again. Come on, jump." I try to sigh slightly irritated, but I can't help smiling. I sit on the branch letting my feet hang off and Dirk moves closer. "I promise I'll catch you." I roll my eyes and slide off the branch. Dirk's arms wrap around me and I throw mine around his neck. I look up at him through my lashes and he leans in and kisses me.

"D-Dirk!" I pull away shocked and he smiles.

"Nobody here knows, relax Dave. I thought the moment called for it." I nod and pull away from him slowly.

"The moment did call for it. You made it even cuter. Now, if I remember correctly you said you were starving."

"Yes, I am. Let's go." Dirk slides his hand into mine and off we go. At first I wonder where we're going, but Dirk takes familiar turns into an old time favorite restaurant. I've loved this place forever, and Dirk sort of likes it. It's not his usual pizza, but they make good burgers and their fries are amazing. I head to my favorite seat way in the back by the window. Dirk trails behind me trying to catch the eye of someone so they know we're over here. I always go to this spot for reasons unknown to me.

"I'm glad you brought me here."

"Well I figured it's somewhere you would want to go, and you did bring up the idea of going somewhere."

"Yeah, you're the best." Dirk smiles and our waiter comes over to us. He sets down two menus and asks us what we want to drink. Dirk asks for orange soda and I ask for a Sprite. In no time our drinks are here and we order. I order a burger and cheese fries, while Dirk asks for pasta. "Want some of my fires when they get here?"

"Maybe just one or two." Dirk smiles at me and glances away.

"Why'd you do that?"

"Do what?"

"You looked at me and smiled then looked away."

"No I didn't."

"You did to Dirk. I saw you."

"No you didn't." I stick my tongue out at Dirk and he does it back. Our waiter comes back with both of our meals and I'm a little surprised at how fast they're moving today. I start eating my fries and Dirk raises an eyebrow. "Shouldn't you eat your burger first?"

"Yeah, but I like the fries better."

"I bet you do." Dirk reaches over and snatches a fri.

"Hey!"

"You said I could have some."

"I know, but don't take them all."

"I wasn't going to." Dirk laughs and shakes his head at me. "You know, your so cute when you try to act all tough."

"I wasn't trying, I just am."

"Of course you are." Dirk and I eat without much interruption. When we're finished we both just sit there. I don't want to leave yet. I'm having too good of a time with Dirk right now to leave. I lean back in my chair and Dirk does the same except he crosses his arms. "What do you want to do now?"

"Well I guess we could head home if you want."

"I asked what you wanted to do." I shrug and glance out the window. There isn't much I want to do. I just want to be around Dirk. I don't care where we go or what we're doing as long as we're together.
