"So what'd you think?" I ask Dirk as we weave through the sea of people to the exit.

"I loved your ending."

"Yay." Dirk snorts and I feel him put his hand on the small of my back. He directs me through the crowd from behind. When we finally get outside I feel his hand vanish. It's probably because of the lighting. It was darker in the theater. Oh well. Dirk and I get into the car and as soon as he's pulling away I feel myself relax. I hadn't even realized my shoulders were hunched up. I lean back into the seat and glance at Dirk. "I'm hungry."

"There's food at home."

"But we're all dressed up."

"Which means we'd need a reservation to get into a place you want to go to."

"What if we already have one?"

"We don't."

"Really?" Dirk sighs and looks my way.

"Yes really. I didn't even think about it."

"But what if I did?"

"Did you?"

"No." I sit up and smile at Dirk. "I wasn't thinking about a fancy place. I was just think since we're dressed up we have to show off."

"Fine, where do you want to eat?"

"I think there's an Arby's by route 101."

"Alright." Dirk changes direction and starts us for Arby's. I've got to admit I just love fast food. There's no trouble trying to make it, and there's really no major clean ups. Plus if we eat out I get to show off Dirk. I can't help the sick satisfaction I get when someone approaches him and he tells them he's takin. Then he always looks at me after they leave and I can just tell how in love he is with me. I've always had doubts, and I probably always will. But those moments always give me the reassurance I need. "Do you want to eat in there?"

"Yup."

"Okay." Dirk parks the car and we head in. Dirk holds the door open for me and I can feel everyone's eyes on us as soon as we're through the door. But that doesn't stop me. I'm up by cash register ready to place my order.

"Hello, welcome to Arby's. For here or to go?"

"Here."

"Okay, what can I get you?"

"I'll have a... chicken bacon and swiss, with loaded fries, and a medium drink."

"Would you like it upgrades to a meal to save some money?"

"Sure."

"Okay, is this together?" The cashier glances at Dirk.

"Yup."

"What can I get you then?" Dirk looks up at the menu and frowns.

"Uh, I'll just have what he's having."

"Okay. So that's two loaded fries, two chicken bacon and swiss sandwiches, and two medium drinks?"

"Yup."

"Okay your total is &14.03." Dirk fishes out his wallet from his dress shirt pocket. Once he pays I take our cups over to the sofa fountain I do half Dr. Pepper and half Mountain Dew. Then I take a few sips and fill it up with lemonade. Once I'm done I grab a lid and a straw and turn to Dirk. He's waiting at the counter.

"What drink do you want?"

"Surprise me."

"Okay." I know Dirk doesn't usually mix his drinks, but he's got to try something new every so often. So I get him the same thing I got myself. "Where do you want to sit?"
