I turn to Dirk and see he's not smiling like Terezi and me. He actually seems a little upset. But before I can say anything Terezi starts talking again. "Want me to buy? I don't mind."

"No I've got it. What do you want?"

"Strawberry." Terezi smiles. Dirk turns away from us to get in line and Terezi starts talking to me. "So what have you been up to?"

"Not much. Just got a week off."

"Oh that sounds great. Are you visiting your boyfriend at all?"

"Uh, no. He's really busy this week."

"Aw that sucks. It would have been nice if he moved out here with you."

"Well it was an unpredictable relationship. But I know with Dirk there's nothing to worry about."

"That's true. So when am I going to meet him?"

"Uh, I'm not sure. When ever I can get him out here."

"Okay, just let me know."

"Yeah of course I will." I wonder how I'm going to get out of this one later on.

"Is Dirk okay?"

"Yeah. I think." I look over at Dirk and just from seeing his slumped posture I can see why she would question it. "I think he might be tired."

"I guess. Well you guys were suppose to get a puppy right?"

"Yup, just got her."

"Maybe it's making him tired."

"Yeah maybe." Dirk comes back over to us. He's holds out two strawberry ice cream cones in one hand, and in the other he holds a vanilla. Terezi and I take our cones and then she starts reaching in her purse.

"How much do I owe you?"

"No it's fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Well thank you so much. It was nice seeing you Dave." Terezi gives me a one armed hug and then does the same to Dirk before waving goodbye and heading off. I put my hand on Dirk's shoulder and he looks over at me.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"

"You just seem upset."

"I'm not."

"You better not be lying.

"I'm not. Now come on, we've left Dixi alone long enough."

"Okay." I get in the car and start on my ice cream while Dirk drives and eats his. "You know we could've waited until you were done eating."

"I can drive and eat."

"But you're not suppose to." Dirk ignores me and I try and think of what could've upset him. He was fine until we ran into Terezi. I decide not to bring anything up until we get to the house. So we sit in silence on the short car ride back. When Dirk finally pulls up to the house I decide to ask, "Do you not like Terezi?"

"No she's fine."

"Then what is your problem?"

"What do you mean?" Dirk asks slamming his door shut. I gesture to his car door.

"Plus you seemed upset right after we ran into Terezi."

"I'm not though." Dirk snaps and hurries into the house.

"Are you jealous or something?"

"No." Dirk starts up the stairs, but I run up ahead of him.

"Then what is your problem!" There's a moment of silence and then I hear Dixi bark. Dirk's eyes go up the stairs and then back to me. He's saying we need to let her out, but not until he tells me what's wrong.
