I never remember falling asleep. It always just sort of happened. I could remember my dreams, but not when I fell asleep. This time, I remember falling on the roof, and I remember how scared Dirk looked. What's worse is I remember his sword coming at me. I'm expecting horrible scarring over my face and to open my eyes and be in a hospital. I'm not ready to open my eyes so I listen. I can't hear any monitors beeping or nurses. I peek open my eyes and find myself looking up at the ceiling above the futon. That's weird. I also don't feel any pain over my face just a headache. I guess Dirk managed to stop from stabbing me. I sit up and a sharp pain goes through my arm. I pull it up to inspect it and see it bandaged up tight. What happened? "Dirk?" Less than a second flat Dirk is by my side with his arms around me."God damn it Dave you scared me so much."
"Can you believe I tripped over an untied shoelace."
"You dork." Dirk's breathing is shuddery so I pat his back and try to hug him back some.
"Dirk I'm fine. You didn't mangle my face like I was expecting."
"Yeah, I pulled back just barely. You tried to catch yourself with your right hand, but you didn't let go of your sword. I'm pretty sure the hilt hit your head and the blade sliced up your arm pretty bad. I fixed it the best I could and I think you just passed out not got knocked out."
"Cool."
"Cool?" Dirk pulls back to look at me. "You little asshole that was not cool!" I flinch down from Dirk's volume a little bit and he frowns. "I'm sorry, but you scared me so bad you idiot."
"I'm totally fine. You saved me." I throw my uninjured arm around Dirk's neck and pull him in for a kiss. He's a little reluctant, but I'm persistent and he relents. I feel the muscles in his shoulders slump and all the tension leave him.
"You are never sword fighting again. I completely ban you." I laugh at the seriousness in Dirk's voice.
"You can try."
"I'm serious." Dirk pouts and I smile at him. He's unamused and crosses his arms. "I really thought I was going to hurt you."
"But you didn't. So get over it."
"Saying it doesn't make it true, and if I remember correctly you said that."
"Stop using my words against me."
"Nah." Dirk scoots closer to me on the futon. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me towards him a little bit. "I'm never letting you go."
"Your going to have to, I mean it's not like you can cling onto me the rest of my life."
"Wanna bet." The seriousness in Dirk's voice is a bit concerning. He's just acting like that because I got hurt, he'll let me go soon enough. I hope. Dirk slides his arms around my stomach and locks his fingers together.
"I wanted to study, let me up for a second."
"No."
"Excuse me?" I don't even have time to try and turn around, before Dirk picks me up. "Ok, where are we going?"
"To your room so you can study."
"You know I can walk right?"
"You are able to, but I'm not letting you."
"Why?"
"Because." Dirk sets me down on my bed and heads over to my computer. "You need this, or do you have what you need printed or written out?"
"Uh, I have a hard copy. The blue notebook has everything I need." Dirk gently moves papers on my desks to get to my blue notebook.
"What do you need to study?"
