Sorry, this was supposed to be last chapter but it felt rushed, so I'll add the last scene in the last chapter as I wanted it to be written with love and not lack of care.
Also I apologise for the typo's, these chapters are very long to write and I don't have time to go back and edit, but once this book is complete, I will fix for typos or silly mistakes.
Also please read FEVER if you're looking for more positivity representation for black women in anime fanfics. There's no angst or trauma as I want to move away from that as much as possible.
Hope you enjoy this chapter and don't forget to comment and vote x
Iman Harriott ~
The courtroom held its breath, the air was thick with anticipation. I felt Alistair's hand tightening around my shaken one. I couldn't tell who was more nervous- him or me?
"On the matter before this court, the defendant, Harry Villers..." there was a pause.
Why was there a pause. This wasn't law and order, this was my life. I didn't need anymore dramatics. Do they want me to faint again or something?
"...is found guilty of raping Iman Harriott." The judge rang in the results
I should've been jumping for joy, celebrating with laughter but I stood there crying. My lips trembling as my hand was still wrapped I'm Alistair's hold but less nerve racking and more comforting. I could feel the melancholy smile he gave to me, whilst tears spilled out of my eyes, one by one. They were happy tears, even though I looked like the opposite, but could you blame me?. Years of torment that I had to carry was now being put to end.
I just now 18 year old me would be so proud.
"You did it" Alistair shook my hand in happiness.
I finally turned my head to look at him, like really look at him. My vision was blurred by the tears pilling up, but that never stopped me from taking in every single bit of him and Issac in one.
Gosh they are twins.
"Yeah," I broke into smile. Bittersweet it was. "I did that"
It was truly the happiest day of my life...
...well apart from my engagement...
...Okay and my wedding day too!
I was able to go back to work with a little bit more pep in my step, than how I would on a normal day. A part of me was worried on what the outcome would be if I had to step into the studios of work, with the verdict announcing Harry that he was not guilty. The testimony's and the evidence was substantial, but power is much greater and for a moment, I believed the courts would've ruled him as innocent or not guilty on some charges.
But there's no need to dwell on that now, as I can finally put that behind me, now that I have gotten justice. There are still people out there that believe he's innocent. As long as the judge ruled him guilty, I can finally breathe. I'd breathe better if he was six feet under, but justice is better than none.
As for Alana, Alistair and I decided to put our pride to the side and just leave her be. That doesn't mean we're going to ignore what she did to me, but just live on peacefully. It's the best.
Today was the first day I'd be going back to work. Okay well not the first day, but I had a lot of long periods where I wasn't fit to work due to how severe my postpartum symptoms were. At times it was just Alex hosting. They'd even bring in guests that would step in my place for the while being. I was literally loosing my mind when they made decisions to bring back Alistair as a co host. Yes I'm aware the he did bring ratings but after the affair was exposed, I got scared at first, but it was all good in the end.
