Chapter 56: Cater's Birthday Bash part 2

"Hey, Lilith and Grim, glad to see that you guys can come over for the party. Luckily for you guys, I managed to make enough bowls of spicy ramen for everyone," greets Trey, placing each bowl of delicious-looking spicy ramen in front of us and an empty glass. Then, places one large glass pitcher of milk and ice water at the center of the table.

The ramen looks delicious, with a halved boiled egg, three juicy pork slices, a bit of bok choy, and some spring onion on top. However, I was a bit worried about the smell of the spicy red soup of the ramen, while picking up my chopsticks hesitantly.

"Whoa! This looks amazing, so good, Trey-kun, I gotta take a pic for Magicam!" cheers Cater excitedly, taking pictures of his meal, before taking off his white coat to avoid stains on his outfit, I assume, while I see the others getting ready to dig in as well.

"It's nothing, I hope you like my birthday present to you, Cater. I'll be back with the birthday quiche. Enjoy everyone!" smiles Trey before disappearing back to the kitchen.

"Nyahaha! Thanks for the grub!" exclaims Grim happily before wolfing down one of the pieces of meat first.

"Thanks for the food!" the rest of us say in unison before taking our first bite. Some of us seem to take the spice better than others; however, I wasn't one of them.

"It's so s-s-spicy !!!" Grim, Riddle, and I shout in unison as we quickly pour ourselves a glass of chilled milk or water.

"Yep, it has quite the kick, but it tastes pretty good," says Ace, wiping his tears away with a tissue from the box on our table.

"Yeah, the spiciness pairs pretty well with the noodles," agrees Deuce with a cough before taking another bite from his bowl.

"Right~? I've been craving them a lot lately," says Cater happily before I notice him blowing on his noodles before taking a bite*. I took this chance to take out my camera and capture the moment while Ace volunteers to help fill our glasses with iced water or milk. At the same time, we laugh and talk about the party games later, after eating.

After a while, the party crowd started to calm down, and most of the students were back in their rooms or spending more time in the garden. This time, Grim and I decide to sit across from Cater by the seats of the lounge to restart the interview. Luckily, Grim had a food coma, so I didn't have to worry about him interrupting for now.

"So, Cater-senpai, let's talk about your phone case. What's the, um, hashtag #inspo there?" I ask while reading the words on his unique phone casing.

"Look at you, gettin' with the times! So, this brand is FIRE right now. You wouldn't believe how hard it was for me to score this baby. I came to the store first thing in the morning, the day it came out, and there was already this turbo-huge line at the door. You should've seen the rush when the staff said they were gonna sell 'em by raffle. The first thing I did was use my signature spell to split into clones and pad my raffle odds with extra tickets. Pretty slick, right? At least, I thought it was, up until they drew the winning numbers, and every Cay-Cay came up blank! I was pretty let down about it, NGL...But then Lilia-kun swooped in outta nowhere a while later and hooked me up with one! Said it was a "souvenir from his travels." He smiles at the memory.

My eyes widen at the unexpected twist, before scribbling down what he said in the book, before he continues again, "Lemme tell you, I was over the moon! The thing is, Lilia-kun's been nudging me about what I'm gonna get him in return ever since. What can I get him that's as rare and hard-to-score as this smartphone case? Talk about a tall order. What I'M wondering is, what backwater store did he find one still for sale at?" asks Cater curiously, before I decide to ask him the next question.
