Chapter 66: Information unlocked!

Once we entered the Savanaclaw dorm to change clothes. I discovered that I needed something temporary while Ruggie helped dry my uniform under the sun. Jack came back from his room with a fresh uniform. Surprisingly, Leona and Ruggie also helped me piece something together.

Leona helped dry my hair out with a wind spell, while I towel-dried Grim. I changed into one of Leona's old golden-yellow PE uniform shirts, which I had sewn to fit me, and a pair of black cargo shorts that were washed, which Ruggie managed to find in Mr S's discount bin pile years ago. To top it off, Ruggie helped to tie my hair up into a side ponytail, repurposing one of Leona's torn Savanaclaw scarves with the logo still there as a bright golden-yellow hair tie.

All three of us took our seats next to Leona and Ruggie in the Savanaclaw lounge to inform them of our encounter.

"Eh? You guys seriously went to the Coral Sea?" said Ruggie in disbelief as they notice our defeated faces.

"You're so dumb, but the cub is mostly reckless," huffs Leona lazily.

"Ffgna!? You're the ones who told us to hurry up and do something!" hisses Grim.

"Hmph. Nobody said anything about jumping into the ocean blindly like an idiot. Your time is limited. I mean, use your head to come up with a worthwhile course of action." Leona advises before signing. "There's no way to beat merfolk head-on in the water, no matter how you struggle. It's like you're trying to get eaten."

"Umm...Leona-senpai, did you by chance know that those twins are merfolk?" asks Jack.

"Pretty much," Leona answers simply.

"Last summer, I saw Floyd-kun revert to that form during a joint swimming class we had...If he came at me like that in the water, I feel like my story would be over," Ruggie shivers slightly as he recalls the memory.

"Then you should tell us something like that in advance!" said Jack, slightly annoyed.

"Weren't you guys the ones that jumped in without gathering information first? If you had asked, I would have told you all about it," Leona smirked slightly.

"Yeah, yeah. You've gotta be wary before you act. Shishishi! Those who can't look ahead will starve on the savanna," teased Ruggie with a grin.

"Mmngmnh...You're as big a bully as ever!" said Grim with a frown.

"So that means that Azul had every intention of getting in our way from the start?" Jack wonders.

"Obviously," replies Leona, folding his arms together as he leans against his seat.

"With the Leech twins as his underlings, Azul is pretty famous for getting his hands on whatever he was promised from his clients. There's also the rumour that they interfere with people so they can't complete their end of the deal," said Ruggie.

"Those guys are a bunch of cowards!" huffs Grim in annoyance before switching to a pitiful look. "Uuugh...If Lilith loses, are we gonna be worked to the bone forever?"

I wrap Grim in a hug for comfort but also understand the stress of losing our only roof over our heads. "Grim's right, what'll we do if the Ramshackle Dorm gets taken away? How will we be able to cope under Octavinelle's supervision?"

After hearing what we said, Leona looks at us with a calculating expression for a moment. Ruggie notices and calls out, "Leona-san?"

"Azul's unique magic is "It's a deal". He can take one's magical ability if you sign a special contract. Also, if there's anything that breaks the contract, the one who signed becomes absolutely obedient to Azul," explains Leona in detail.
