[So this is my first attempt at writing yuri (japanese girlxgirl stuffs >_<) so any feedback is more than welcome!!]
“If you stare any longer, you’ll go blind.”
I turned at the sound of the cool lazy voice behind me. Trish stood watching me with a mischievous smile as her head nodded towards the courts where a basketball game was being played.
“I highly doubt watching a practice game can make me blind.” I said more calmly than I felt. It was not the first time Trish had caught me staring at the courts while we were supposed to be training for the next track competition.
“Game my ass. I think we can both agree your attention lies more with the spectators than the players.”
I felt my face heat in embarrassment at that. Trish knew me too well and it was times like these that I wished she didn’t have years of experience in reading my emotions through my expressions. Best friends tended to have too much insight in that area and no amount of camouflage could fool them. But I couldn’t complain she was after all, the only one who actually knew me well enough to read through my subtle changes in expression and see who I was as opposed to everyone else who had their own image of who they thought I was, on some high decorated pedestal.
Honestly it was quite annoying. It made it very hard to deal with people when they already had a set impression of you. So I had developed a bad habit of not even bothering to try.
Before I could say anything to Trish, Coach Wicker stomped over towards us with that mean look on her face that indicated we had rested longer than our allotted break time. Thankful for the save I ran to the head of the course and began my stretches, only allowing myself a few last glimpses to the basketball courts before focusing on the run ahead. The race always calmed me and settled my thoughts. On the field nothing else mattered but the ground I moved on.
Trish watched as Amy got ready to take on the field. All the other members of the club also watched as the oblivious ‘star’ of the team did her stretches and readied for the practice run. Trish smiled at her best friend as she watched all her fans gather closer to watch. It was the only time others felt they could get a bit closer to Amy. Trish couldn’t blame them, Amy’s cool expression and attitude made her really tough to get to know, but underneath all that was a surprisingly very normal and air-head girl. Both guys and girls were in love with her, be it out of respect, admiration or simply because she had an aura that demanded you to take note of her. She was indeed a very intimidating figure that was more popular than she knew, but that was okay. Trish liked that she had Amy’s ‘other’ cute side to herself and frankly enjoyed being the only one aware of it.
Trish turned her attention back to the basketball courts, most of the players had become distracted with watching Amy prep for her race, but the game still carried on, though slowly. Trish searched for the face that Amy had been entranced by, but it was already too crowded by fan girls to make out anyone’s face.

“SCORE…” Randy yelled as he dunked his third ball into the net perfectly. When there was no response he turned to find that the court was nearly deserted. A few of the other players were gathered by the fences and watching the track team practice, while the rest of the team took a break and were rehydrating by the benches, the usual fan girls following their favourites and offering their own water bottles. Randy sighed in frustration as he walked to the fences.
“What the hell guys? What happened to the game?”
One of the younger players answered, his eyes fixed to the field.
“We’ll play later; Amy Mason is actually practicing today.”
Randy looked to the runners as Kevin spoke and sure enough the mysterious and laid back star runner of the school was actually practicing with her other teammates. Randy was surprised, she rarely ever came to practice, not that she needed it, and when she did it was only to give advice to the new members. He guessed even she stretched her legs after the long holidays every now and then.
“Look at those legs~!” one of the other members stuttered as Amy out ran the other runners.
“I’d love to have those wrapped around me!” crooned another member.
Randy shook his head, these freshmen had no idea what those legs could do and none of those things would be pleasant. Amy may have the body of a goddess, but her personality was that of the ice queen.
Everyone in school knew that Amy Mason’s beauty was the ‘look but don’t touch’ kind and anyone stupid enough to try their luck would be lucky if they could even crawl away, let alone walk. Her personality had earned her the nickname of Princess Heartbreak thanks to all the rejections she had given to the guys that had tried their luck and even some of the girls who thought they had a chance after the string of failed attempts by the guys. But no one ever seemed to measure up to the princess’s standards.
“If only she wasn’t so icy.” One of the older members and unfortunate victims of Amy’s rejection, stated. A younger member turned in frenzy, stars in his eyes,
“But that’s what’s so great about her, she’s a cool beauty.”
Randy sighed in amusement but before he could say anything a shadow moved beside him and responded first.
“Yeah, that’s true. She is indeed a rare cool beauty just waiting to be warmed.”
Everyone turned at the sound of one of the most harmonious voices in the school. The one who had spoken was Michael Angel, one part of the twin idols that the school worshipped. Perfect in every way and in everything they did. The Angel twins where famous for their mere presence. They truly lived up to their surname ‘Angel’.
Michael was the star in almost every girl’s eye, they all wanted him and despite his innocent appearance and gentlemanly manners he had a fair record of taking up some of those girls on their offer. He was a man that usually got what he wanted and most guys couldn’t decide whether they disliked or liked him.
Randy looked eagerly around Michael and was rewarded with the sight of the other part of the twin idols, Mia Angel, the most adorable being on the planet. Though she was just as good at everything as her brother, she did not accept as much confessions as her brother and the ones she did never really lasted long as she could never stand being together with someone so long and ‘moving to the next level’, something that just made her all the more desirable to the guys. The girls on the other hand, though admitting her natural beauty, did not have any trouble showing their dislike of her and her adorable clumsy ways. But they did well never to do so in front of her brother.
Randy was no different from the other guys when it came to Mia, except maybe that he only saw Mia and wasn’t distracted by Amy.
“You guys done gawking at the track team?” Michael asked teasingly as he threw the ball at the huddled group still fixated on the runners.
The moment the ball collided with a few faces the startled players turned angrily to the thrower only to sheepishly bow their heads in shame and move back towards the court.
“Thanks captain!” Randy smirked as he watched the players reluctantly take their places.
Michael turned to Randy and shot him a daring smile as he retrieved the ball,
“What thanks, you were just as engrossed as the rest of them.”
Randy caught the ball and felt his face heat up,
“No, no way! I was waiting for them to be done…” Randy turned to Mia, as if he felt he had to explain himself. But Mia was already tripping her way back to the benches where she usually watched from. Michael came up to Randy and smacked him on the back,
“Eyes on the ball Randy… eyes. On. The. Ball.”
