It was Wednesday night and Adam had been ignoring me since I pushed him away in the park. I stopped chasing him, he'll talk when he wants to talk, he probably just thinks that I need some space. John, Lizzie and I sat in a circle on John's bed, a monopoly board sat in the middle with three individual pieces; a car, a dog and a shoe. My phone started ringing so I rolled the dice and picked it up, answering the unknown number.
"Hello?"
Please be a prank caller. Please be a prank caller.
"Hi!" The person on the other end was strangely enthusiastic.
"Who's this?"
"It's me, Lydia!" She laughed.
My heart dropped. I love getting prank calls. They always make me laugh but I never seem to get them...like ever.
"Oh hello," I smiled at the phone. "What's up?"
"Are you still coming on Saturday night?"
"Where?" I asked.
"The party!"
"Oh I forgot about that," I slapped my head. I remembered now that she invited me to a party that was supposed to be happening next week- this week.
"Well that's good because I need to go shopping and now so do you!"
It was true, I don't have anything to wear for the party. "Sure, when do you want to go?"
"How about tomorrow after school?"
Well hell. I can do anyday of the week at any time. My social life isn't exactly bursting with excitement and I'm never really busy.
"Yeah, I think I can do that."
"Cool, see you then."
And she hung up.

I found a dress almost immediately, it was a simple pale embellished dress, but Lydia thought that she had to try on everything that the store had to offer. If I went alone, it would have taken me an hour including travelling to and from the shopping centre.
Lydia thought that she would only find the dress that she wanted if she tried on every availiable dress twice. It took her two hours to find a dress that she wanted and she probably only chose that dress because she knew how close I was to throwing a tantrum if I spent more time in that God awful place. She settled on a purple bandeau dress which complemented her curves...but every dress did that. Every. Single. Freaking. Dress.
Annafree was so close to exploding out of me and lashing her crude, yet witty, insults at her and then we'd end up causing a scene and then people would stare and then I would get stage fright and then I would freeze up making people think that I've died standing up. Wow that was a mouthful...
"Done," Lydia sang as she took the bag from the cashier.
"Thank freaking God," I mumbled.
"Aw is someone cranky?" Lydia grinned at me and suddenly I felt like I was seven again. "Let's go get some food inside your tum-tum to make you all smiley again," she ruffled my hair and grabbed my hand as she lead me to Subway.
Yep, definitely feeling patronised right now.
Oh well, she's paying. If she refuses then I will gladly release Annafree's chains.
"I don't think my mum would let me," I sighed. "You know, go to the party." I looked up at Lydia.
"Why not?" She frowned.
