Michael and I walked together to school, I was starting to get used to his presence around me all the time. I was beginning to feel more comfortable around him and I was beginning to show who I really was to him.
You see, there are three sides of me: Anna One, Anna Two and Anna Three.
Anna One (I call her Andon) is the girl who wouldn't hurt the huge spider in the bedroom or shower. She would do anything to avoid an argument or confrontation. She was the girl everyone at school saw.
Anna Two (I call her Antwon) is the girl who is loud, boisterous, rude and sarcastic. Only my parents see this side of me and for Michael to even see a glimpse of Anna Two, well, he should feel priviledged.
Anna Three (Annafree) is a freak. A weirdo. She is violent. She is critical. She is someone who will remain locked up in my mind forever. If she came out then no one would talk to me at all. She particulary likes shouting death threats mentally at inaminate objects- like the clock.
It scared me how quickly I became friends with him, I've never had a best friend and I didn't believe that you could be someone's best friend within a day or so but Michael has proven my theory wrong. He was the closest thing to a best friend that I have ever had. Well, apart from Hades and Persephone but I'm sure they won't mind being replaced.
Before parting our seperate ways in school, he asked me again whether I wanted to have lunch and his friends, I agreed and he told me to look for him near the Year Eleven Lounge. For once, I couldn't wait until lunch. Usually, they just drag on and I stay indoors no matter what the weather is outside. Not by choice. Louise and her group hate the outdoors as much as I hate peanuts. And that's a lot.
I didn't bother to tell them where I was going. Why should I? It's not like they would have cared.
I walked slowly towards the Senior Block where the Year Eleven Lounge was. I didn't want to turn up too early so that no one was there so I took the long way around but, the school grounds were so small, it's not really a long way compared to the shorter route that I would normally take. I probably just delayed the arrival time by a couple of seconds- if that.
Outside the Year Eleven Lounge I saw Michael sitting with a girl in his year, she had blonde hair tied in a messy bun, her side fringe hanging out. As I approached nearer, Michael saw me and waving his hand at me, beckoning me to come.
Cautiously, I sat down next to Michael suddenly feeling very awkward. The conversation ended and no one made an attempt to start it again. I dropped my gaze to the patterns of the wooden circular bench tracing my index finger along it. I could feel the girl watching my every move judging me on the first impression. I looked up at Michael and the girl and smiled.
"You alright?" Michael asked. I was thankful that at least someone was speaking.
I nodded, feeling mute.
"This is Lydia," he gestured towards the girl sitting opposite us. "Lydia, this is Anna. She's having lunch with us."
Lydia welcomed me with a warm smile, her jade green eyes looked at Michael expecting him to make some sort of conversation. He didn't attempt to.
"Oh look, everyone else is here now." She seemed somewhat relieved that it wasn't going to be only us.
Three more people walked over and sat down, they all said their greetings and stared at me in bemusement. Michael greeted everyone by their names hoping that I would know everyone and so that he needn't explain every person within the group to me.
The guy next to me was called Lucas, with thick brown curly hair and deep brown eyes and despire tha acne on his chin and forehead, he was the definition of the adorable boy-next-door.
