The front door bell rang as I was playing with the DS sitting upside down on the sofa, I didn't make an effort to answer it. It rang again, paused then someone started pressing the bell relentlessly.
"Someone get the door!" I shouted.
The doorbell rang more.
With a heavy sigh I pulled myself off the sofa and stumbled to the front door. I opened the door and standing in the doorway with their finger firmly pressed against the doorbell was Alex and behind her was Taylor, Lauren and Syrah.
"You and your family are quite efficient when it comes to guests coming to their house," Alex invited herself inside.
"Uhm.. hello?" I closed the door when everyone came in
.
"Ignore her Anna. Alex's mannerism could make the Queen of England look like a jackal," Taylor narrowed her eyes at her.
"Ignore Taylor she's too sarcastic for her own good," she rolled her eyes. "So do you want to go to Pizza Hut?"
I didn't really want to go but if I decline then they might have thought that I don't want to hang around with them but if I say 'yes' then I'd feel guilty because I'l feel like they would have to invite me just because I'm John and Lizzie's sister.
"Yeah. You should definately come. John and Lizzie are," Syrah said smiling.
"Ok, let me go get changed first," I laughed.
When I'd got changed, I went back to the front door and saw everyone in the hallway waiting for me.
Maybe I should have given them a drink...
Whatever Anna, they knew where the kitchen was so if they were that desperate for a drink then they could have just helped themselves. They aren't invalids. Besides, don't want to fake your way in making them your friends, everyone knows that you aren't really great at hospitality or socialising which is why no one talks to you.
I blocked her out. I was starting to get good at ignoring Annafree's subtle jibes and I hadn't realised it until now.
"Hi Lauren," I smiled at her. I thought that I may as well have talked to her because we weren't talking to anybody anyway.
"Hi," she replied quietly.
"How are you?"
"I'm fine thank you. You?"
"I'm good," I smiled. "You aren't very talkative are you?"
"I am!" she protested.
I raised an eyebrow at her. "You are?"
"Well... yeah but only with people that I feel comfortable with. I can't do it with people I'm not comfortable with."
I smiled and nodded. I understood her completely. Lately, I think I've been like that. When I went to the youth club, I was louder than I normally was in school, even with Michael, Lydia and Lucas!
"So you aren't comfortable talking to me?" I asked, keeping a smile off my face.
"No-no-no-no, I-am. I-like-you-and-you're-really-nice-and-all-but-I'm-just-really-shy-so-I-don't-talk-as-much-as-other-people-and-I'm-just-really-bad-at-socialising-but-you-seem-really-sweet-and-stuff," she didn't even take a deep breath after she'd finished, instead she just looked at me like a lost puppy with those big brown eyes.
"It's alright Lauren. You don't need to lie just to make me feel better about myself," I feigned sadness and hurt.
"Oh but I'm not, honest!" Lauren's eyes started glistening.
