The Broken Promise

3rd person's pov

"Guardian Angel?" Elizabeth muttered, she looked at Hoseok briefly before looking at the young man standing across from them. She took in every inch of his appearance, from the way that his hair sat to the way his clothes seemed to reflect how polished he seemed. She noticed the tense atmosphere between Hoseok and this newcomer, and she wanted answers. She couldn't understand what Hoseok and this Angel were talking about. "H-Hoseok, what do you mean Guardian Angel?" She stammered, her heart dropping into her stomach. Hoseok had never wanted to let her know that this angel was supposed to be her brother's and eventually hers. Everyone stood in silence, tense and curious as to what answer Hoseok was going to give Elizabeth. Jungkook and Jimin shared a look between each other, their concern growing with each passing second. Jin tilted his head as he stared at the new angel in curiosity, his eyebrow raised as he wondered why this man was so full of anger. Namjoon sensed right away that something wasn't right about this Guardian Angel, that he wasn't fit for the title somehow. Yoongi tried his best not to show his concern for Hoseok and Elizabeth, he knew Hoseok was keeping something from her. Taehyung kept his eyes on the newcomer, he didn't trust him and it seemed that he had the opposite effect a Guardian Angel should have. "Caleb was your brother's guardian angel. He was assigned to your brother when you were just a baby.. He's the reason you and your brother survived the night your parents died." Hoseok explained. Elizabeth's eyes trailed back over to the Guardian Angel, Caleb. "Is that true?" She asked, "Yes.. You weren't able to see me at the time. Neither of you were aware of my presence because of everything going on. I made sure that you and Damian would survive that night. That's why your parents placed you both in the hideaway room." Caleb answered. "You met my parents?" She asked, "Yes, it was very brief but they knew I was sent there to protect you and your brother." He added. Elizabeth took in the new information as best as she could, but she was still confused.

"I made a promise to your parents that I would keep you safe." Caleb said.

"Well, it's obvious you broke that promise. You clearly weren't even aware that those two were in danger." Taehyung taunted, Caleb sent the Fallen Angel a dark look.

"Shut it, you disgraceful bastard." Caleb snapped.

"Ooh, you kiss your mother with that mouth?" Taehyung shot back. Caleb growled, feeling frustrated with Taehyung's comments. Taehyung only smirked at the angel, amused that he was getting under his skin.

"I said shut up!"

"Or what?" Taehyung tilted his head, amusement shining in his eyes.

"Stop that, Tae." Jin smacked him on the shoulder.

"Oh, come on, hyung. It's so fun making him lose his temper." Taehyung pouted. Jin rolled his eyes at Taehyung, turning his attention back to the issue.

"Hoseok, how did you become Elizabeth's guardian Angel if Caleb was already protecting them both?" Jin asked, he was curious about what caused the position to change. "The day that Elizabeth and Damian were attacked, Caleb wasn't around. He was supposed to come down here to protect Damian and you. The higher ups sent other angels to fetch him and it took hours for him to be found. When they did find him, he was caught sleeping with another one of his charges. Instead of saving Damian, he slept with one of his charges. By the time, he was apraised of the situation, it was too late. Damian had already been kidnapped and Elizabeth and her best friend were injured." Hoseok explained.

"They removed him as Damian's Guardian Angel and placed me in charge of you, Elizabeth. They have yet to assign another Guardian Angel to Damian."

"They only removed me because you wormed your way into the position! You stole my charges from me!" Caleb snapped.

"I didn't worm my way into anything! You made your choice and it cost you everything! Don't blame me for the mistakes you made. You were supposed to be protecting Damian and Elizabeth that day! You were nowhere to be found and Damian was kidnapped as a result. Had you actually been there and heard them fighting for their lives, you wouldn't have lost him as a charge. The higher ups decided that I was the best fit for Elizabeth as a Guardian Angel because we were a lot alike. Get over it, Caleb." Hoseok shot back, his wings fluttered slightly as he tensed up.

"I didn't realize that Guardian Angels could sleep with their charges..." Namjoon said, "Hoseok said it's generally not supposed to happen but there are exceptions to that rule. I guess it's by a case by case situation." Yoongi shrugged, crossing his arms.

"You asshole! I'm gonna make you pay for everything!" Caleb sent a huge ball of electricity towards Hoseok, who immediately grabbed Jungkook and Elizabeth and moved out of the way. Everyone else scrambled behind Taehyung and Namjoon, both of them conjuring a protection barrier. The ball hit the trees behind the group, blowing up several of them sending pieces of it flying everywhere.
Hoseok placed Jungkook on his feet, as he lowered himself to the ground. Caleb growled in frustration, sending another ball of energy at the trio.

"Look out!!" Namjoon shouted.

Hoseok looked up, quickly handing Elizabeth to Jungkook as his feet landed on the ground. "Elizabeth, stay with Jungkook." Jungkook and Elizabeth looked at one another for a brief minute, both slightly blushing at the close promixity they were in before looking to the Guardian Angel in front of them. Hoseok held out a hand, quickly diverting the energy ball away from him and the two standing behind him. The energy ball hit the trees to the right of the trio, exploding them on impact. This sent more debris flying, Hoseok conjuring a small barrier to protect Elizabeth and Jungkook from the debris. Namjoon and Taehyung dropped the barrier, the rest of the group making their way over to Jungkook and Elizabeth.

"You guys okay?" Jimin asked, frantically looking over his brother and Elizabeth for injuries.

"We're fine, hyung." Jungkook assured him.

"Yeah, Hobi made sure none of the debris hit us." Elizabeth spoke softly. The majority of the group were concerned with Elizabeth's state of mind, she had just learned that this guy, Caleb, was supposed to be there the day they were attacked. And he wasn't. He wasn't doing his job as their Guardian Angel to protect them and it was his fault that Damian was kidnapped. "Liz... Are you alright? We just learned a lot of new information." Namjoon asked, he looked down at the brunette in concern. "I..." Elizabeth couldn't put into words how she felt at the moment, there were so many emotions running through her. "I... don't have an answer right now.." She said, her eyes falling to the ground, "It'll be alright, Liz." Taehyung placed a hand on her shoulder, she looked up at him in surprise. Taehyung didn't usually take the time to comfort her when they were dealing with huge obstacles, she gave him a silent nod 'thank you' and looked at Hoseok, her current Guardian Angel.

Hoseok cracked his neck on both sides, slipping his jacket off and handed it to Yoongi, not daring to say a word. Hoseok's toned shoulders seemed to make him stand out more as he was wearing a short sleeved shirt, his wings fluttered in frustration as he prepared himself for this fight. There was a strange glow around his figure, one that let Yoongi know that this was going to be a big fight.

"I've never seen him like this." Jin said.

"I don't think any of us have. His anger towards Suho was way different from the way he is now." Jimin spoke.

"Yeah, he's literally glowing." Jungkook agreed.

"Given how much Hobi cares about Elizabeth and her wellbeing, he is willing to kill someone if it came to it. We're lucky he hasn't gotten to that point with everything we've been through." Yoongi replied.

"Give me back my charges, you asshole!" demanded Caleb.

"Not on your life. You made a choice, you have to deal with the consequences. Elizabeth is my charge now and there's no way in hell that I'll let you take her. Over my dead body." Hoseok declared.

"You bastard!!" Caleb charged forward, hoping to take Hoseok down. And Hoseok, he stood ready to take on the attack.
