Coming back up to the house, I noticed just how big the damn thing really was.
"It's gigantor." I whispered in awe.
The house itself was an enormous, beautiful monster. I guarantee, even more beautiful in the light of day.
I sighed, prepping myself to enter my kidnapper's magnificent lair once again. This time, I'll be demanding he take me back home, minus the tears.
Otherwise a kick to the balls will do.
And his car stolen.. if he has one out here in the middle of this dense forest.
I wrapped my muddy hand around the doorknob and twisted it, slowly pushing the door open with my other hand.
Should I call out for him? Or should I go to the room I know he's in?
I lingered in the doorway for a moment, looking around before coming in and quietly shutting the door behind me.
Maybe I'll find a set of keys without having to confront him.
I dipped low, looking down the hall I'd previously walked down, not seeing or hearing a sign of anyone.
I quickly rolled the bottom of my pants legs up and scraped my feet along the mat in front of the door. He didn't need to know I was back. At least not until I was already gone.
I kept my body low, my legs bent, and my head dipped as I scurried around Mr. Tall, Dark and Nonchalant's house.
I opened cabinets, pulled out drawers, checked every table and countertop, and even looked under furniture for keys.
Damn you, where are you hiding them?
I was creeping backwards, one foot slowly behind the other as I tried to think of any other place exotic eyes could be keeping his getaway keys.
My right foot came back and my heel slid down something that wasn't there before. A squeal escaped my lips as I turned around.
"Back so soon, pet?"
Tall, Dark and Nonchalant leaned against the wall, crossing his arms with an amused smile on his face.
"Not by choice." I glared at him, "I want to go home."
"Then why are you here?"
"You're surrounded by stupid trees! I can't find my way around here, I don't even know where here is!"
An inhuman growl rumbled at the base of his chest, causing me to back away further.
"The woods covering these lands are far from stupid. They are home. They are mine." His eyes reflected as he uncrossed his arms, standing tall.
"Yeaaaah, okay. Good to know." I took another step back, "I'm not much for begging, but please.. I'm tired, barefoot, soaking wet, my head is aching, I'm hungry, and I think I need to be evaluated because I'm starting to hallucinate giant bears."
He laughed.
I can't believe this fucker, he actually laughed.
"Great to know that I'm amusing."
He set his eyes on me and advanced closer.
"I'm too exhausted to fight with you buddy, so if you're going to kill me, make it quick."
"Kill you?" His smile was clearly amused, "Why would I kill you?"
"So is this what you do? Taunt your victims?"
